I tried a few of their signatures but still like the Ham & Cheese Croissant best. About $10 post taxes.
I popped in on a weekday late afternoon and it was quiet and cosy. The two lady servers in the shop were warm and friendly. I wasn't expecting much and just needed a place to chill for a bit but the coffee (I ordered cappuccino) was really good! Their sandwich menu looks quite good as well so I'm looking forward to stop by again sometime.
Came here on a Friday afternoon and was lucky to get a parking spot near the shop front. Parking is free but usually hard to get in front of the shop house stretch, but there is a private estate at the end of the road where you may quite easily park, a 2-min walk away.
We had a pasta as our 1-for-1 main dish and the cold brew coffee with milk. The cold brew was lovely in my opinion; I'm usually a hot coffee person but this one had enough body for my liking, unlike some diluted tasting ones I have had in the past.
Boy: Aglio Olio Pasta. I would give a 3/10 because it barely had any flavor. All I could taste was the natural flavor of mushrooms.
Girl: Tom Yam Seafood Pasta. A 8/10 for me for flavor as it was sour and appetising; surprisingly not creamy at all but still good. I didn't like that gelatin prawns were used however.
Overall, I would come back again for their breakfast food which seems well-reviewed, but maybe not pasta.
As per title. Mee Siam is surprisingly good.
I know everyone goes there for coffee, but don't miss out on their delicious and affordable croissants! $3.50 each. My favourites are the Chocolate & Coffee, Pistachio and Raspberry/ Orange.
I had the Lobster Roll as the whole lobster was out of stock. It wasn't very memorable but the herb chicken for 2 to share was really lovely. Desserts which we ordered were fantastic as well, as were the escargots we had as appetiser.
Something about their Mala soup has a really lovely kick that I don't find anywhere else. Having it with noodles is great but generally don't order it with meat as it tends to be overcooked.
We ordered a half chicken ($17) consisting of 7 pieces which was delicious. Both this and the soy chicken were recommended to us. Chicken was crispy and appetising. More sweet and sour than spicy.
We also ordered the army stew ($20) which was a bit lack luster in my opinion. Probably because their kimchi isn't sour or flavorful enough.
All in all, will be back for their chicken!
Weekends are always a time to look forward to, especially when it comprises a leisurely brunch reminiscent of the wonderful cafรฉs in Australia ๐ฆ๐บ...
So while it isn't the best time to scramble for a VTL flight to down under for now with the Omicron wave going strong, I'm incredibly thankful that we have one of our fave cafรฉs @thebrewingground serving up some of the best brunches in the neighbourhood! ๐ฅฐ๐ฅโฅ๏ธโฅ๏ธ
Definitely can't miss their signature creamy ๐๐๐ง๐๐ข๐๐ก๐๐ ๐๐๐๐ฃ, ๐๐ค๐ช๐ง๐๐ค๐ช๐๐ ๐ฝ๐ง๐๐๐๐, and the generous serving of ๐ผ๐ซ๐ค๐๐๐๐ค ๐ฅ in their breakfast platter!
And of course, the essential cuppa ๐๐ก๐๐ฉ ๐๐๐๐ฉ๐ โ which I wouldn't miss for the world. ๐ฅฐโฅ๏ธโฅ๏ธ
Launched on 17 January, you can now get the Taiwanese braised pork rice with housemade preserved vegetables at all of their outlets at JEM, ION Orchard and SingPost Centre. Available as a rice set from $10.60, the braised pork rice set comes with either 3 pieces of chicken nuggets, 2 pieces of crispy chicken, 3 pieces of chicken wings, 1 juicy thigh cutlet or sweet potato fries, together with an egg-drop soup and soft drink. You can even upgrade your drink at $1.90 to the Mongaโs Fruit Tea of Roselle Tea with Rainbow Jelly or Lime Tea with Rainbow Jelly.
The braised pork belly that has been seasoned and cooked to an almost gelatinous texture, with the perfect fat to meat ratio, sits on a bed of fluffy Japanese pearl rice. Accompanying it are the onsen egg, lettuce and housemade preserved vegetables, the latter with a tangy flavour to cut through the fattiness of the pork belly. Come March this year, there will also be a new item added into the menu, a fusion dish of Taiwanese Braised Pork with Mashed Potatoes that is available as an ala carte order at $5.90.

It doesn't seem to be on Burpple, so I just thought to share their menu for those keen!
A lovely little eatery paying homage to Godzilla. Staff is friendly and if you look closely, you will spot lots of decor and figurines featuring the fictional Japanese monster! They are also located next to Chirashi King Kong, a humorous reference to the movie Godzilla VS Kong. The owners of the two eateries are friends, and are in collaboration, so you will find menus of both eateries at the tables outside.
We ordered the Truffle Chicken Karaage Don as well as the Gyu Beef Don, accompanied by a Thai Milk Tea ($2) which was a pleasant surprise. I typically avoid Thai Milk Tea as it is too sweet for me. Theirs was cleverly served in a long self-standing zip lock bag and straw, with punctured holes to act as a carrier to takeaway later if you wish! It was also sweet, but not too sweet, which I loved.
Boy: Truffle Chicken Karaage Don ($10.90). The chicken is so good! It's super crispy while still being light. The truffle taste is a bit on the lighter side but I don't mind it at all. Would have preferred if they used sushi rice, though. 8/10
Girl: Gyu Beef Don ($12.90). Beef slices had a light truffle taste and was well complimented with the Onsen egg. Rice was drizzled with sweet sauce which was a nice touch but beef was a bit more well done than I would have liked! This dish was a 7.5/10 for me:)
Overall it was a pleasant dining experience and we would come back again to try their other dishes!
