The Beyond deal is valid for noodles and rice, which I claimed for the takeaway deal. Ordered the YangZhou Fried Rice with BBQ Pork and Prawn, as well as the Clan 7 Laksa. To my surprise, the Laksa was served dry without broth, and looked nothing like laksa.

Boy: YangZhou Fried Rice ($15). Nothing special about the fried rice but it had a good bite, so rice was well prepared. Shrimp was cut up into small pieces but they were fresh prawns, not gelatin. 7/10 rating.

Girl: Clan 7 Laksa ($16). There is no resemblance of this dish to laksa at all. It tastes more to me like dry noodles tossed in shrimp paste, served with tobiko. Prawn is a little sparse as they cut the shrimp up into bits. This dish might be better had in the restaurant itself but served decent as a takeaway. 6/10 for me.

On a weekend early evening, the place seemed rather empty. Service was alright but one of the staff was slightly condescending when she learned that we were using a Burpple deal. She was eager to check my app while questioning her colleague who already informed me that I could use it, if my deal would be valid (dine-in deal only available on weekdays) despite that I had repeatedly mentioned that I wanted to do a takeaway. Bad vibes later during payment as well.

This is a takeaway stall within New Tech Park. The food takes about 6 to 10 minutes to be ready, and the set comes with a bag of fries and a canned drink. Chicken comes with a choice of 1 of 4 seasonings: mala, BBQ, sour cream or truffle.

The shoestring fries were good and similar to that of McDonald's but with chicken powder seasoning. The chicken was also well fried, crispy and extremely satisfying. I opted for the Truffle flavor but felt like it tasted a bit sour, more like sour cream.

For the Fried Chicken, we were allowed to mix 2 flavors (choose from spicy, soy and original) and we chose the first two. The chicken comes in the form of wings (note: each drumstick and wing count as 1 pc separately) and unfortunately even though it was pinned as a Chef's Recommendation, I didn't find it that good. It is extremely affordable however, and the wings were fried well but the sauces it came dressed in leave more to be desired. Soy was the better one of the two, and I would skip the spicy; Korean spicy chicken is usually a sweet-spicy glaze but this one was literally Korean chilli paste slapped on chicken wings.

This was served with half a serving of ramyeon and a bowl of rice. Inside the stew was tofu, spam, fatty pork, kimchi and fish cake in generous servings.

Whilst I did enjoy this dish and it was good as army stews go, I wish there was more soup and it was served hotter. It was the first dish to serve and came on its own, but was lukewarm, and quickly got colder as I ate. A 7/10 but would have been higher if served hot.

‼️Beyond Deal Update: On Burpple it says the main dishes eligible for this deal would only be ricebowls and mains, but they said those were from before their relocation, and the deal has now extended to rice, noodles and soup, with exclusion of Korean Ginseng Chicken Soup. Also, note that the updated menu has more options than the one shown on Burpple e.g. there are 6 soup options instead of 3. You can Google their website for the updated menu‼️

A very modern-looking, Korean-Western fusion cafe! I visited for dinner and the place had very chill vibes—think dim setting, stylish furniture, neon lights and vibey K-pop music from a proper sound system. None of that loud, jarring Korean music here. At 730pm on a weekday, I didn't require a booking but the place was at around 50% capacity.

We ordered a couple of mains, their Korean Fried Chicken ($10 for 6pc) and some drinks. For the Fried Chicken, we were allowed to mix 2 flavors (choose from spicy, soy and original) and we chose the first two. The Yuzu Soda ($5.50) was well concocted and the Iced Mint Latte ($6) was interesting as it was served blue, with a wheat-base. I couldn't decide whether I liked it or not but it was neither good nor bad.

And for the mains,

Boy: Bulgogi Carbonara ($16) as pictured; this was a star dish that came with an onsen egg and beef sukiyaki slices. The meat was sweet-savory and just so well done; on its own would easily be a 9/10. The carbonara too was full-bodied and a solid 7/10 but I felt like they are meant to be separate dishes and not served together. Overall an 8/10.

All in all this was a really nice cafe and I was pleasantly surprised by the nice vibes. The staff was polite enough and it was a good experience. It's a bit far away for me but I don't mind coming back again. With Beyond, our bill came up to $39.90 after taxes, which I find extremely reasonable for the spread and ambience.

We actually visited this place with intention to use the Burpple Beyond 3 course meal deal. But upon reading reviews, decided to order a-la-carte instead, as the appetiser was very small in portion anyway and we don't drink beer.

We ordered the Black Angus Beef Sukiyaki donburis, and topped up to a set with large chicken and sashimi. I also had my don with a foie gras top-up. The beef is well-marinated and seared, sweet and crispy on the outside and tender on the inside. Onsen egg and Mentaiko lived up to expectations but the foie gras did not as it lacked flavor and was rather watery in texture. The portions however are on the smaller end for its price point. Sides were good but nothing spectacular, and sashimi slices were a tad small. I also had green tea and it was a tea packet served in hot water, and it was cheap tea.

Overall, I think this place is good for a quick work lunch but perhaps not somewhere I would travel to just for dinner.

Came back to try out their sandwiches and they didn't disappoint! Lovely service and food from this quaint cafe, as always. The cafe menu has 2 more sando options compared to the one uploaded on Burpple; they are Smoked Chicken Sando and Luncheon Tamagoyaki Sando.

We ordered the latter—the sandwich is an appetising combination of sweet and savory of spam and Japanese omelette, with some tomato and mayo thinly spread between the bread. Toast was crispy and a lovely texture contrast to it's softer, fluffy egg and spam.

Not pictured is a chocolate cake slice we ordered. This month, their usual cakes on the menu are unavailable and switched out for cakes from their collab with Edith Patisserie. There are 4 flavors including Classic Chocolate Cake, Earl Gray Lavender & Lemon Passionfruit (the last one I can't RMB) at $8.50 each. They are however, still available under the Burpple Beyond deal. I am not usually a fan of chocolate cake but the rest of the flavours were out of stock, and in the end I must say this one was a nice treat! The cream was rich chocolate layered between moist sponge cake topped off with a piece of fudge, and wasn't overwhelmingly sweet.

Highly recommend this cafe. I feel like they are underrated or just off the radar due to their obscure location; shared this with a chatgroup with my neighbors who live nearby in walkable distance at Serangoon because this is a place I would vouch for:)

A small quaint space in Funan, mostly with tables for two.

Ice Cream sandwiches came in 3 flavors— dark chocolate, milk chocolate and sea salt butterscotch.

We had the milk chocolate and sea salt butterscotch and preferred the latter. Ice Cream is on the lighter side and the cookie is chewy and easy to cut and eat; wasn't messy at all. Milk Chocolate was alright but not the best!

We had our dinner there on a weekend and it wasn't too crowded. Beer was good; I was surprised to learn that they brew their own beer since the place didn't look much like a bar! Asked the staff for a recommendation and tried a light, malty beer. Side of spam fries was great as well, but the mains we ordered could be better.

Both rice bowls had very hard, dehydrated rice, as if it has been kept and reheated for a few days.

Girl: The Spicy Mentaiko Salmon bowl came with pickled vegetables and edamame which was a nice touch, but Mentaiko was a bit too sour and light for my liking, missing the creamy, full-bodied flavor of Mentaiko.

Boy: Chix and Cheez felt overbaked, as the layer of cheese was quite hard when served.

I think it's a nice place to grab some beers with friends, but the food has room for improvement.

I popped in on a weekday late afternoon and it was quiet and cosy. The two lady servers in the shop were warm and friendly. I wasn't expecting much and just needed a place to chill for a bit but the coffee (I ordered cappuccino) was really good! Their sandwich menu looks quite good as well so I'm looking forward to stop by again sometime.

Came here on a Friday afternoon and was lucky to get a parking spot near the shop front. Parking is free but usually hard to get in front of the shop house stretch, but there is a private estate at the end of the road where you may quite easily park, a 2-min walk away.

We had a pasta as our 1-for-1 main dish and the cold brew coffee with milk. The cold brew was lovely in my opinion; I'm usually a hot coffee person but this one had enough body for my liking, unlike some diluted tasting ones I have had in the past.

Boy: Aglio Olio Pasta. I would give a 3/10 because it barely had any flavor. All I could taste was the natural flavor of mushrooms.

Girl: Tom Yam Seafood Pasta. A 8/10 for me for flavor as it was sour and appetising; surprisingly not creamy at all but still good. I didn't like that gelatin prawns were used however.

Overall, I would come back again for their breakfast food which seems well-reviewed, but maybe not pasta.

‼️Note: Not indicated on Burpple app, but the Beyond 1-for-1 deal is only eligible for one full and one tasting portion only. Only learnt about it when we visited.‼️

Tucked away in Fortune Center, a stone's throw away from Bugis MRT, we came here for lunch on a Friday and it was quite crowded. The restaurant is cosy with an open concept kitchen. Despite there being available seating however, the service staff did not prioritise having us seated, and we were told to wait at the door for about 5 to 10 minutes. It later also took about another 10 minutes for us to place an order as it was difficult to get the server's attention.

As mentioned above, we were told that the Burpple deal is only eligible for 1 full and 1 tasting portion only, so we settled on a Vongole (full portion) and Mentaiko (tasting portion). We also ordered the Mixed Berries Sparkling drink ($5) to share.

Boy: Vongole ($24.90, full portion) with Roasted Capsicum and Paparika Spaghetti. A bit light tasting and I can't really tell what the pasta tastes like. It's not your regular sphaghetti and has an appetising orange color, but I didn't think there was anything special. Portion is a bit small. Usually I get very full from eating pasta but I was hungry soon after this. 6/10

Girl: Mentaiko ($16.90, tasting portion) with Beetroot Fusilli. This was an exquisite dish for me. The pasta was al-dente and the perfect sweet savory of Mentaiko, which was laced generously with tobiko. The serving came with 2 scallops that were well seared, and whilst the serving is indeed quite small if you are planning to have it as a main, it would be a good sharing dish size. 9/10 as it was very appetising.

Overall, the place was rather noisy at lunch time but still cosy. Just a bit difficult to have conversations over lunch. I would come back again and probably order 2 full portions, with the the tasting portion from the Beyond deal to share, as I do genuinely enjoy their handmade pasta. I must mention parking turned out to be a bomb (about $4 an hour) so I would recommend making a reservation and probably going at dinner if you drive since parking is flat rate then. Or if you commute by public transport, it would be better weather on your walk there, too.

Price: 7/10 (with Beyond, but note portions are small)
