Meet the true OGs behind their craft.
Grannies making and packing my favouritest Banana Pie, ever. I doubt I’ve had anything with banana that’s ever come close to tasting this good.
Generous filling of chunky sweet bananas encased in a salty shortcrust pie shell, the outer edges of the pie lined with a thin crimped layer of puff pastry, topped off with dessicated coconut and chopped peanuts before it’s baked to a golden brown finish in the oven.
The irresistible buttery smells wafting through Katong Shopping Centre’s basement will lead you straight to them!

Served at room temp with butter, sea salt and olive oil. Loved the thickness and dark char on the crust, proved that good bread didn’t need to be served warm.
Had this for dinner last night and wishing I had the foresight to order an extra for takeaway so I could have it today!

Extra lard-y pasta tossed with nuggets of gelatinous pigs head, and a hit of herbaceousness each time you bite into a chiffonade of basil. Extremely tasty, umami flavours. A must order when you are here at Rebel Rebel.
Although the portion size seems normal, I’ll highly recommend this for sharing amongst 3-4pax so everyone can enjoy its richness without it being too overpowering/jelak. Also, so that you can try more dishes on their menu.

Currently open for dinners only. Closed on Sundays.

Quite possibly the most underrated dessert amongst @oliviarestaurant_sg’s sweet selection.
Torrija translates literally to French toast, so this is Olivia restaurant’s twist to a traditional Spanish French toast.
A warm crisp and caramelized housemade brioche sits atop vanilla crumbs, confit kumquats, bright and zingy orange gel, then finished with a schmear of vanilla icecream and a crisp milk paper. Very generous with the vanilla here, just look at the flecks on the milk paper!
Excellent ending to a usually heavy meal, with the right amount of acidity in each mouthful.

Perfectly cooked open-faced omelette, slightly runny, combined with the stringy mozzarella, savoury Jamon ham and I enjoyed that it’s just with a light hint of truffle.
We ordered double portions of their Pan Con Tomate (toasted sourdough with a tomato spread and olive oil; dish in the background) just so we could wipe up every delicious morsel within the skillet.
After my first mouthful, the only words that popped up in my head: Weep Worthy Combination. Then proceeded for second and third helpings.

Tasty massive meal on its own! Boils down to the simple things done right. Felt almost like 3 whole eggs per serving were used to make those fluffy scrambles, sandwiched between savoury slice of cheese, 2 strips of turkey bacon, an important slather of their secret tomato sauce within the toast (which you can’t see here), and both sides of the toast given a nice sear on the hot plate together with some compound butter.
Best consumed immediately after purchase, otherwise toast would turn soggy amidst all that condensation and it’ll be all for naught!
Contrary to most Korean Egg Stops, our local joints are catered for takeaways only and therefore there are no seating areas available for dine-ins.

Also known as č‚‰å¤¹é¦, a street snack commonly found all over China; and I might have just found my favourite tasting one in Singapore!
The flatbread is significantly less sweet than our usual mantous, yet slightly crisp on the outside while it sandwiches copious amounts of chopped spiced stewed pork belly, complete with bits of rendered fat and gelatinous pork skins. Best consumed within half an hour, otherwise the dough starts to get too stiff and doughy.

They also make crazy good dumplings and jjajang noodles but I’ll save that for another post.
At 3.5bucks a piece, it’s practically filling enough to be a meal on its own, and for this quality, it’s superbly affordable if you ask me.

食香阁 is located on level 2 of Bishan’s Bus Interchange. You won’t miss them! They usually have a longest queues. I was there on a Saturday just before the lunch crowd hit, at 1140hrs, approximately 15mins wait for food upon ordering.

A well seasoned patty makes all the difference. Theirs sandwiched between melted cheese, juicy tomatoes, lettuce and soft pillowy buns.
Best Burgers this Circuit Breaker!
Order the Coffee MilkShake if you’re a caffeine addict! Wasn’t available when we placed our order so we had good old vanilla instead.

One of the best meals we’ve ordered this Circuit Breaker has got to be from @meatingplace.sg.
Just check out that variety. The family definitely love their Wagyu Rice Bowl, Hasselback Potatoes on Tobiko Mayo and BBQ Smoked AnXin Chicken. If you have kids, get their Mac & Cheese. Personally, my favourite is their Beetroot & Fried Cauliflower Salad dressed in an apple cider vinaigrette and finished with savoury crisp bits of umami pumpkin seed crumbs.
There’s definitely something for everyone in the family!

So grateful that they’re still open during the Circuit Breaker. Katong Shopping Centre’s famous Delicious Boneless Chicken Rice, known for their juicy tender chicken, free flow achar and soup. Although there’s no ā€˜free flow’ since these are delivered, the owners definitely packed enough achar and soup for everyone. Big love.
Ordered via @grabfoodsg.

Kindly note that you’ll have to request if you want your chickens deboned.

Newly opened patisserie-cafe within the CBD, right along Amoy Street: @luna.singapore.
I’m an avid fan of Orh Nee and although this slice of cake carried a fluffy light texture; a distinctive difference from the usual sticky heavy dessert, it didn’t disappoint.
Light vanilla sponge with fragrant Pandan Yam paste, chunks of yam, mousse-like textured coconut chantilly and crunchy whites chocolate pearls. I’ll actually come back just for the cake. Coffee was great too!
