I loved the exciting presentation of how they poured the martini into the dry ice filled glass, which created smoke that drifted all over the table. Kind of reminiscent of the actual fog that was covering the mountain because it had just rained! This is exactly what a cocktail should be -- fun and delicious. A must order, if not just to pop the huge juicy lychee into your mouth.

This was really sumptuous and chock full of clams and flavour. Couldn't stop devouring the bread bowl even after the soup was quickly slurped up. Loved the arugula and sweet vinaigrette too.

A new player in πŸ“Punggol, Anna's is a riverside cafe with an indoors and alfresco section. I really enjoyed the ambience here on a lazy Sunday afternoon! By the owners of soup spoon, the cafe focuses on sourdough selections. Come by after 5pm for their extended dinner menu.

I'd say this is one of the more unique big breakfasts I've had and it's because of the absolutely delicious chewy cheesy sourdough and cultured butter that came with it. The sourdough really is the kind that leaves a tart flavour in your mouth!

As for the butter flavour, you could choose between options sun-dried tomatoes, black garlic, and cocoa sea salt.
Minused a few points because of the baked beans, which tasted like canned beans despite their claim that they're housemade, and the mushrooms which were too peppery. Falafel was a bit dry too.

Celebrated Valentine's in πŸ“Novena and had quality Italian food at uh... disproportionately high prices in my opinion. It was an immersive tablecloth affair but too bad the waiter kept rushing us as well to get out before the sitting was over though there were many empty seats. 🀷

The bread here is really good though.

Now I really appreciated the mild gorgonzola cream here! Tempered by the walnuts, I loved the marriage of crunchiness of the nuts and chewiness of the little spinach gnocchi bits.

The handmade ravioli had a nice chewy texture without being too thick. The pork sausage didn't taste that meaty but went well with the mushroom cream sauce.

Mediocre calamari - it was crispy but there was nothing discernable that could justify its $26 price point.

Served freshly made with each order, this Chinese flatbread is perfect for a snack or paired with some sides, a light lunch.

The first few bites reminded me of a prata because of how crispy and flaky it was.

The Chinese flatbread is indeed very flat so there isn't much room for fillings, but I could definitely taste some slivers of scallion and chicken here and there. The sesame is also lightly roasted from bring in the oven so I'd say that gives the guo kui it's strongest flavour.

I couldn't get over how rich and smokey the tikka masala was and kept smothering my naan with it. The firm texture of the paneer actually simulated meat quite well if you're missing it.

The cauliflower here was beautifully charred, which lent a smokey texture to the sauce.

This platter featured marinated grilled chicken breast, lamb cutlets, grilled ribeye, and chicken wings, and is stuffed with a corn on cob and small hill of curly fries. The chicken breast was surprisingly tender for this unassuming cut of poultry and actually pretty well marinated. The lamb cutlets and ribeye were both rather juicy despite them being quite thin.

As far as meat platters go, Alter Ego's is not a bad choice to satisfy any carnivorous urges -- especially at this price!

Thanks Alter Ego and Burpple for having us!
