The price of the wagyu ribeye fajitas might be eye-watering but it was arguably worth it in the end. The meat really melted in our mouths! The set also comes with house mole, ember-roasted chiles & onions, mezcal butter, lime, crema, and warm corn tortillas.
Heard lots about the chicken here being to die for but I really regret ordering this -- granted it was tender but after all I found the chicken really nothing special...
No meal at Nixta is complete without their giant churros! These were indeed one of the best churros I've tasted though I needed some getting used to dipping the churros in the gamey milk sauce.
The crust, though thick and tart, wasn't really chewy nor open crumb enough for me to fully appreciate the sourdough. I found that the uniqueness of this pizza lies not really in the crust but the fact that cheese was drizzled with honey. Never have I tried sweet gorgonzola but I must say it is a fine concoction!
I've never tried Gumbo before so I wasn't sure what to expect out of this quintessential Louisianan dish. Well, since the owner of the restaurant also owns soup spoon, I thought I'd give it a try.
Again, the soup base was quite thin but surprisingly strongly flavoured. The chicken and sausages probably contributed to the highly umami taste, and we scraped up every last bit with the accompanying sourdough.
The sourdough pasta was really firm, just a smidge above al dente but I'm not complaining. Also note that the sauce was a bit thin but I could overlook it with all that tender meat and sweet cherry tomatoes.
Very succulent moo ping but I would prefer it a little more charred on the outside. It would give it a much better BBQ taste.
These broth was rich and the meat was succulent. It also came in a huge bowl that I couldn't finish! However, note that the broth is quite herbal so there's this distinctive sweetness to the dish. The noodles were a bit hard also and clumped in a ball in the soup.
My friend got this and I wish I had stuck to the classics like her! I tried a bit of the broth and I couldn't help but pucker up โ just how I like it.
Not sure what to eat at Artbox? You're definitely spoiled for choice at the Burpple food street! Pictured here is just some of the food I tried at the event, because I can't post it all here. Head to my profile for the detailed reviews of each dish!
Thanks so much Burpple for the invite to the media preview, we had such a great time at Artbox 2023 ๐
My favourite of the night! The price may seem steep for just a toastie, but the tides turned when I saw how much stringy cheese and truffle they packed into each sandwich. Boy was I rewarded when I ordered this -- and it wasn't only because the mozzarella gave a cheese pull of my #InstaDreamsโข.
Even with so much truffle (tartufata, probably) inside, the flavour never once got too overpowering. There's just something about truffle and cheese that's a match made in heaven. I also absolutely adored how the buttery open crumb bread was grilled to perfection and then sent to grace the fillings with it's chewy-crispy charm (ok I got to cut down on the adjectives but it's TRUE).
The portion size is also rather sizeable, so definitely share it with a group of friends. A MUST TRY recommended must order yes amazing
