The beef slices were really sumptuous: well seasoned, balanced and really tender. The sauce went really well with the Japanese rice. This set only cost 600Y! Really affordable.
After trying a few places, this place has one of the better Okinawa pork ribs! The sweet soy marinade penetrated through the bone and the meat was fall off the bone tender! Handmade noodles were chewy and firm. The restaurant even has a beautiful garden! Great ambience :)
Delicious sashimi bowl topped with uni! The uni was firm but creamy enough, and the fish was extremely fresh! The Japanese rice grains were plump and chewy, which went really well with the ingredients. All this for only 1500 yen!! A gem on Kouri Island!
Stopped by this shop packed with locals to have some Okinawa soba! It didn’t disappoint! The soup base had a strong taste of dashi and was umami-rich. The pork was well marinated, and the texture was fall-off-the-bone. Noodles are also handmade! Very chewy and well cooked.
Absolutely delicious! Just what you need on a Super hot day. The ice cream base was creamy and milky without being too sweet. The salt cookies added a whole new dimension of nuttiness and saltiness. A MUST TRY.
Thosai is decently cooked: spongey with a tinge of sourness. Daal is a fail though, very watery, lacking the thickness and earthiness of the lentils.
Really really generous stall! Large portions with generous amounts of meat!! The wok hei is not very consistent but the gravy is flavourful and the bee hoon is fried well without being too soggy.
The duck slices were generous, but the soup lacked the intense herbal and robust flavour. I would say it is not worth the queue. Maybe the dry one tastes better.
I loved this porridge! Every spoonful was filled with ingredients which gave the porridge so much more flavour. Definitely not ‘bland and sick people food’! The texture of the porridge was also to my liking as the rice grains still had a bite. One more plus point is that they use brown rice! This gave the porridge a more earthy flavour. It’s a bit pricey ($5 with staff discount for a regular portion) but it’s a once-in-awhile lunch treat ;)
It’s supposedly a dish with ban mian, but I switched it to bee hoon because food coma ya? Haha. The soup base was ok-flavourful, prawns were fresh and the mince pork balls were chewy and bouncy. Nothing to shout about imo. Price was $4
Delicious dim sum! They had unique offerings like chives xlb which I really enjoyed! Their chee Cheong fun had this unique thick and umami sauce which paired really well with the silky and smooth ccf! The Prawn dumplings were mediocre though, lacking flavour and freshness of the shrimp but their scallops dumplings were tasty! Worth a try.
Mr Kneady serves trusty sourdough pizzas that are crispy on the outside and chewy on the inside. Each pizza is only $12 with generous amounts of toppings! The dough is also well fermented, with a tinge of natural sourness coming through. We ordered two Remedy pizzas: one original and one with tomato base w/o cheese. The smoke chicken went surprisingly well with the two bases and the red onion provided a pungent and sweet dimension to the pizza. One of my favourite places to grab my pizza fix!
