Arrived at 6.50am and already there was a queue even though they were supposed to open at 7am. They have two stalls here, one selling fishball noodles and the other selling Bak Chor Mee. The latter was not open yet at the time of my visit.
Ordered Fishball Mee Kia dry, $5.00 for extra ingredients. The noodles were Al dente and chilli sauce goes well with the noodles. Piquant and packing quite a bit of heat, although a bit greasy.
The fishballs were of uneven shapes, given that they were hand made. Very bouncy and tasty, definitely beats the factory types you get from most noodle stalls.
The portion was small though, even at $5.00 a bowl so can’t really claim value for money.
Overall one of the better fishball noodles in Singapore.
New Vietnamese food stall. The menu looks comprehensive.
Ordered their Chee Cheong Fun take away. It really is locally sourced Chee cheong fun instead of those steamed and rolled on skewers. The sauce is legit Vietnamese, sweet and a little spicy.
Not fantastic but I do plan to come back and try their pho and others.

Excellent fishball noodles. The Mee Kia was cooked al dente and both the chilli sauce and the dipping chilli packed a lot of heat. Do add a spoonful or two of the soup before giving the noodles a good stir to coat every strand. Fishballs were not handmade but very bouncy nonetheless.
One of the better fishball noodles I’ve had this year!
Been eating here for ages since I moved to West Coast. This is my go to place for cheap and good wanton noodles.
At $3.50 a plate, you simply cannot beat that. The portion is decent although I wished they’d use the normal alkaline wanton noodles for more al dente bite. The wantons were also thicker in the skin but char siew was sweet and tender enough.
The MVP is their pickled green chilli. They have got the sourness and heat of the chilli perfectly balanced. Just toss a couple of slices into your noodles and it elevates the taste immediately.
Sometimes I’ll add braised chicken feet. Theirs does not have a lot of collagen but has good flavour and the flesh comes off the bones easily.
Recommended if you need a quick, good and cheap meal in West Coast area.
A very good Prata place in Jurong East. The pratas are crispy on the outside by fluffy on the inside. Fish curry is quite normal but the sambal is to kill for.
Queues can develop very quickly because the place is small with limited tables inside and outside. So come early during mealtimes.
Amongst the few places in Singapore offering this famous JB dish Chao Ta Bee Hoon (San Lou Bee Hoon), my preference is Yong Kee. It is always done to perfection, crispy on the outside, with soft bee Hoon hidden underneath together with seafood and lots of sinful lard bits. Perhaps flavour wise, there are other better ones but none can claim the consistency of quality like Yong Kee.
Located in a Kopitiam with limited tables, so come early during meal hours.
First ate here years ago when I was not based in Singapore. I recall back then, good Hong Kong style roast meat restaurants were quite scarce In Clementi West Coast area. Besides roast meat, they also have wantan mee, zichar and they sell Nasi Lemak and porridge in the morning.
After my return I continue to frequent this place basically ordering the same duck drumstick rice with added roast pork, braised egg and double boiled water cress soup.
The quality dropped and the portion has been reduced over the years but price has increased to over $10 now. Only the double boiled soup has remained consistent in portion and taste. Quite disappointing.
A new Hainanese Chicken Rice stall in Clementi West Coast area.
This one is located at a new Kopitiam Foodland @ 713 along Clementi West Street 2, Block 713. At noon time today. The queue was 12 long when I arrived. And no wonder because there’s a promotion going on.
Normally a drum stick rice would cost $4.50. Due to the 3 days promotion, my plate of drum stick rice plus braised egg only cost $2.80 today.
Chicken meat is tender but rice is a tad dry even though fragrant. The achar provided helps cut through greasiness of the rice and chicken and adds flavour. A bowl of free peanut soup is given and it’s rather tasty. Chilli sauce is good after adding ginger purée and dark soy sauce.
Arrived at 1.15pm and there was no queue. Ordered black and white fried carrot cake at $5.00 with chilli.
To be honest I have always preferred white version of carrot cake. But this time, to my surprise, the black carrot cake blew me away. So many layers of flavour, the black carrot cake was sweet, savoury and spicy with a little bit of charred taste. The white carrot cake was savoury and spicy, with adequate chai poh (preserved radish).
Overall a good carrot cake but a little oily.
A really good Hokkien Prawn Noodles stall. Nowadays you can hardly find prawn noodles with intestines or liver. This stall has it.
Arrived at 11am and there was hardly any queue. Ordered their pork rib liver intestines prawn noodles, bee hoon with yellow noodles. At $7.00, it’s a bit expensive but being such a rare find, I thought it was worth the splurge. I did ask the stall owner if it was possible to ass pig tail but he replied that I probably cannot finish the portion as they will add a whole tail. Maybe next time I’ll just order a portion with only tail meat.
The chilli sauce went well with the noodles after you give it a good stir to coat every strand. Not too spicy, just fragrant with a little bit of sweetness. Liver was a bit over cooked but the intestines was soft with no funky taste. The pork ribs were choice cuts with good mix of fatty and lean pork. Prawns were mid sized tail on and fresh by its crunchiness.
Special mention for the soup. It was full of umami and the taste of prawns. Not too salty from soy sauce, you’d want to drink it all.
Overall a very good prawn noodle. The queue was getting quite long by the time I left, satisfied and happy.
This Western Grill located in a Kopitiam across Clement Mall is cheap and good. Offers Burpple deals but the items on offer was not so interesting for me so I ordered all carte Grilled Chicken.
The chicken was nicely charred on the outside and tender in the inside. For $8.90 a plate, you also get corn in cob, salad vegetables and choice of carbs like mashed potatoes, buttered rice, spaghetti, French Fries and others.
For $4 more you can get a bowl of Mushroom Soup. Wish they had more mushroom in the soup but the croutons were crispy even after soaking up the soup.
A satisfying and quick western meal for me.
