First impression of this place is that it is very quiet, there's only a few table occupied. This may be because I went on a weekday night. The staff here were all very friendly, they immediately greeted me with smiles and brought me to my seats as I have made a reservation beforehand. I ordered their truffle fries and their sirloin steak. The truffle fries wasn't that nice as it does not have much truffle taste to it. However, I was in love with the steak, it was perfectly cooked and the sauce was fantastic. The steak was very tender and when I bite into it, it felt like it melts in your mouth. Overall, I would totally go back for the steak.

A quiet place tuck away at hougang. If you're looking for a place to chill and have a good time, i would recommend this place. They have a small menu, considering it is quite a small place, but still offers a wide range of foods, from croissants to burgers and many more! My friend and i decided to get their set meals which was $25.90 Nett. Each set came with a main, drink and soup/dessert.
The first set we got was the beef burger, orange with passionfruit drink and mushroom soup. The beef burger was very good, it was very juicy and well cooked, the cheese and pineapple compliments the burger very well. The drink was okay and the mushroom soup was well seasoned.
The other set we ordered was their beef lasagna, tea and cake of the day "which was btw called ugly cake haha". The beef lasagna was relatively okay, the layers were pretty well layed out and could taste each and every layer. The tea was just normal and the cake was very nice, although it looked really sweet it was just nice.
Overall very good experience with this place, would recommend it if you want somewhere quiet

Decided to just get a quick bite and was craving for western at that time. This stall has been at the corner of eye for quite some time already, however i just did not had the time to try it out. At last, i can try it, the price ranges on their food is not really friendly, considering it is located near a school i would expect it to cater a little more to the students. There were a wide varieties of food to choose from, i couldn't make up my mind so i just randomly chose one with a "hot favourite" sticker on it.
The wait for the food was relatively long, as i saw the whole coffee shop, there were no signs of anyone ordering western, so i would assume it would be quick, the food came like after 20mins.
At first glance, the food didn't really look appetising. Their coleslaw and fries were mediocre, the chicken was very blend, i mean even the cheese was not helping with the flavour. In my opinion, the cheese was a very weird combo.
Overall bad experience with this place.

Whenever I walked past food republic, the smell of this dish always attracted me, therefore, I decide to try it. At first glance, it looks super delicious and the smell of it was unforgettable. But when I took my first bite, it was sooooo salty and does not taste like what I imagined it to be. Although the Hor fun was very chewy and has that charred taste to it, the sauce was not to my liking. The sauce was very salty and is quite jelat. The beef was a little too tough and does not have much taste to it which was quite disappointing. Overall, this was quite a bad experience for me as it does not really suit my liking.

The first time I tried the Assam fishball, it was amazing! The Assam soup was soooo flavourful and the fishball was so chewy. There were also chunks and chunks of fish meat inside the soup which makes me really excited as I really like the fish in it. I can taste that the fishball was cooking in the soup for sometime as the fishball has the soaked up the soup's essence and flavour. However, when I went to buy it again the next day, I was utterly disappointed. The fishball looked like it was the leftover of yesterday's and the soup has a metallic taste in it, which tasted very disgusting. Also, the soup does not have any pieces of fish in it which is soooo different from yesterday's. After that incident, I did not really want to buy it again.

Felt like eating something cold therefore I bought this mango snow ice at DessertStory. The mango shaved ice was really good, it has the right amount of mango flavour to it. However, the mango purée on top was too sweet for my liking, if there wasn't the purée on top, it would be a lot better. The mango at the sides were also a little too sweet for my liking as I prefer mangoes that does not have an overpowering sweetness to it. Also, the portion was a bit too little for that price. Overall, the mango snow ice is a pretty good dessert if you are a fan of sweet desserts.

The hype for this curry rice was quite high. And so, I decided to go down and have a look myself, at first glance the store looks more like a ramen place than a curry rice place HAHA. What I found out was that they sold ramen and curry rice. However for some reason I saw people ordering their curry rice more. I decided to get their mega platter which was just $19.80. The wait for the food was relatively short and when I went to collect my food, I was in shock. The plate was soo freaking big, and it was filled with all sorts of goodness! Btw, the plate was freaking heavy, I would say close to 3kg.
So moving on to the food review, the tempura was decent, it has sufficient breading unlike the other ones I had which was caked with breading. The pork chop was relatively dry and it wasn't that pleasant looking either. The chicken was very nice tho, it was crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside. There was a crab cake thingy (not sure what it is called) was pretty nice for texture however i feel that it was lacking in flavour as it was really blend. The egg is just pretty normal, nothing fancy about it. The rice was abit mushy and too soft in my opinion, as for the curry it just taste like normal curry they bought from NTUC.
Overall I would say its nothing that special, the portion was big tho but the taste was just mediocre.

Every time i come to whampoa, i always order this stall, reason being? Its cheap and superrrr delicious! They sell curry chicken accompanied with either rice (+$0.50) or bread (+$1.00). I usually just get the rice as i am not really a bread person however i did get their bread once, and let me tell u their bread is amazingggg. It's crusty on the outside, fluffy and soft on the inside! Which makes it great for dipping in curry as it will not make the bread soggy but at the same time still soaks up all the curry! Now let me get on to the review of the curry, they serve a generous amount of chicken and potato, their curry in my opinion is just nice of spice level, not flaming hot but still packs a punch, which is quite suitable for kids! The chicken is very tender as well, the meat literally falls off the bone when i scrape on it, it is always cook to perfection, as for the potato, i dont know how they do it but for some reason when i eat the potato, it taste like the potato actually soaked up all the curry and the taste of curry inside the potato is amazinggg. Dont be fooled by the picture, it may seem like a small portion, however there is more than it meets the eye, as the awesome ingredients are sunk beneath the curry.
Fun fact:
From what i have heard the curry recipe was actually pass down to him by his grandmother ! No wonder it had a homely feel to it.

It has been awhile since i was here. Last time, i ordered the basil pork with rice set, this time i ordered the same thing and also their tom yum soup. The basil pork standard was still there, in fact, i think that there was an improvement. The basil pork is not too spicy but it packs a kick, its very fragrant as the basil is stir fried nicely. The texture of the pork is chewy and is stir fried nicely with the chilli, basil and other spices.
The tom yum soup was very very fragrant as well, the ingredients inside tasted fresh and it wasn't like those overnight stuff. There were prawns, squid, fish, and many more inside the soup. The spice level on this is a bit high but still acceptable. Overall this thai place is a hidden gem and it deserves more publicity. I would recommend this place if you wanted to try some thai cuisine.

I used to frequent this westen place as it was near my school and i would always get either their chicken chop or fish and chips. I would say the standard of the place has lowered. I thought their standard would have gotten better after the recent food review done by a recognised foodie. So i decided to go back and have a try, i ordered my usual chicken chop. When my chicken chop arrived, at first glance the presentation of it has improved since i was last here, however i realised that the portion has gotten a lot smaller and also, the price has gone up quite a lot(from $5.00 to $6.50), the chicken chop taste relatively normal and nothing special, it was still pretty tender and pack full of flavour but it was missing something that i could not pin point. The slaw and beans were normal. The garlic bread was still on point and it reminded me of what i had a few years ago. Personally i was a little disappointed, i dont think I would come back for this as there are other stalls that are nicer in the coffee shop.

For $1.80, you get a scoop of ice cream and a crispy waffle. The ice cream I chose is peppermint chocolate chip. The peppermint taste of the ice cream is just right for me, and the chocolate chips in it tasted extremely good. The waffle was still crispy after some time. Although I wouldn't suggest letting the waffle soak in the ice cream for too Long as it will become soggy and would not taste as nice. If when you are not hungry and looking for something light, you can consider getting this.

This is my first time trying food from the vegetarian Stall at Koufu, I ordered the Maggie noodle without any sides. I requested to have the curry gravy over the noodles. At first, I didn't have much expectations for this noodles as it doesn't look that good. However, when I had my first bite, the curry was sooooo good, it was very fragrant and had a little spicy kick to it. The Chili was also very surprising, it had a little sweet taste to it which I like it a lot. The spiciness of it, is also just right for me. I would totally go back again for this, although it is a little pricy.
