Saw pizza paradise around Holland Grove and decided to give it a try! Had the Deep Fried Burrata, Bismarck Blanc pizza, Wagyu Bolognese and Tiramisu. The Burrata was novel to me, but the cheese went really well with the sauce and salad.
I personally love the Bismarck Blanc pizza, especially how the lightness of the cheese melds with the egg and the ham. Could taste the sourdough as well, complementing the taste of the ingredients. The pasta was a familiar taste, reminding me of the Bolognese dishes I consumed in Australia.
The Tiramisu is creamy and had a very strong coffee taste. Perfect for coffee lovers, but might be a bit too strong for me.
Might go back if I'm in the area, but the location is a little far for me. Nevertheless, I would consider trying their other flavours of pizza next time I'm there!
Was out at parkway parade when I saw the scones in the display window. Was looking to buy breakfast so I decided to grab a few on the way plus a quiche and a brownie. Definitely one of the best decisions I made.
The scones were very aromatic, and you can taste the flavours with each bite. My favourite is the underrated cheese one, followed by classic cranberry and the popular herb one. The scones are a little dry, but that does not detract from its taste. Shame I didn't know there was clotting cream - I'm sure it would have tasted even better.
As for the quiche I got the salmon and spinach quiche. There was plentiful salmon and spinach in it, and the quiche itself was creamy and the crust crumbled in the mouth. Made for a good breakfast as well.
The brownie was fantastic too, rich and sweet with a smattering of chocolate chips on top. It was moist but not too much, and it served as a fantastic dessert after dinner that day.
All the foods were extremely filling, a bang for your buck. Would buy from them again, and maybe get some of the clotting cream this time.
Very filling and satisfying dinner here at Hong Kong Cha Kee! The char siew and scrambled egg rice and garlic clay pot noodles particularly stood out to me, with its bold flavours. The toast was sweet and crispy, the peanut butter within a good filling that complements the taste. The borscht was fantastic as well, a fine balance between sweet and savoury, with assorted vegetables that makes me feel healthier at least.
The atmosphere was lively, and the staff were very accommodating and friendly. Would visit again, perhaps with family next time.
Went to Fi with a group of friends, and we had quite the spread! A good pick me up after work.
We had the Charred Corn Som Tom, the Moo Ping, the Roasted Duck Green Curry, the French Poulet, the Morning Glory, Burnt Butter Cabbage, and the Seafood Thai Fried Rice. On the drinks side, we got Thai Iced Milk Tea, Thai Iced Milk Tea Highball and Sabai. The food was fantastic, and the portion was quite generous. I especially liked the meat dishes, as they are very tender and flavourful. The sauce complemented the dish well too. I particularly enjoyed the buttery taste of the cabbage as well, and my friend loved the green curry.
Service was fantastic as well, with the waitress coming up to check up on us often and ensuring that the meal was okay. The atmosphere was also cosy and fitting for a chill night out with friends.
I would go back to Fi sometime again, perhaps with family this time.
Ate at Meat N' Chill, and we ordered the Honey Mustard Ribs, White Alabama Ribs, and the Fudgy Brownie for dessert.
Each ribs main came with 2 sides. The meat was very tender and you could really taste the smoky flavours mixed with the honey mustard sauce. The Fudgy Brownie was not that sweet, but it felt a little dry on the jnside. The vanilla ice cream was a nice touch, though.
The waitress and waiters checked up on us at appropriate times, promptly delivering water and cleared our plates. The atmosphere was warm and inviting as well, although it was slightly darker than I would have liked. Personal preference, though.
All in all, would return for their amazing ribs, and maybe try the steak as well next time.
I went to Miraku with my friend last night, and I had an excellent experience! When we entered, we were greeted with a warm and soft interior, and the manager and enthusiastic chefs. We were served hot tea upon sitting down.
After which, we were served the first salad, a sakura ebi salad that was both briny and sweet at the same time. A perfect blend of flavours! Then, to start us off, we had chawanmushi with cubes of A4 Wagyu and boiled carrots, as well as a special mochi at the bottom of the cup. Wonderful starters to whet our appetite.
It is after this that a whole slew of sushi came, such as Isaki nigiri and Uni handrolls. Each piece of fish is especially fresh, and it has a very smooth mouthfeel. The amount of wasabi is just nice as well. (First time eating wasabi without needing to reach for water.)
To finish off the meal, we were served a rice bowl with cubes of seared fish, tamagoyaki, and cucumber, adorned with a crown of roe alongside a cup of miso soup. Dessert was a bowl of strawberry milk ice cream. I'm not usually a fan of strawberry-flavoured desserts, but the flavour wasn't too strong, and the milk made it creamy.
Service was excellent at Miraku, where all the chefs were very friendly and nice. My friend couldn't exactly take food that was too raw (discovered only after we sat down and had a few dishes) so the chef seared most of her fish for her. When she had a bout of gastric, they asked after her as well, and even offered to serve a smaller portion when she said she was getting full. All in all, impeccable service.
I would definitely recommend Miraku, especially if it's your first time at an omakase.
Had a fantastic dinner here at Meadesmoore! Have been meaning to try this for a while, and I'm glad I finally got around to it.
We started off with the Wild Arugula Salad, thoroughly enjoying the crispy croutons, the cured ham, and the poached egg nestled in the middle of the Arugula stack. Perfectly sets the mood for the rest of the meal.
For mains we had the USDA Prime Hanging Tender, which was, as its name suggests, very tender and juicy. It was the right level of doneness, and it wasn't extremely chewy. It is complemented well with the garlic and the bearnaise sauce. We also had the Lamb Rack, wowing us with its smoky and very pronounced taste of lamb, which I very much loved as I am very partial towards lamb. We also had the Grilled Broccolini with the mains, accompanied by romesco salsa and a scattering of hazelnuts, which really added to the taste!
Lastly, we had the dessert, featuring an amalgamation of fruits like raspberry, strawberry, and lychee, as well as meringues and vanilla ice cream with almonds towards the bottom. It had a very fruity flavour intertwined with floral notes. Nothing was too overpowering, and it really serves as a fantastic finish to the meal.
The atmosphere was new to me as I'm not used to eating in such upmarket areas, but the deco definitely fit the dark theme it was going for. Service was amazing as well, with the waiter coming to check in on us and ensure that the food is brought out in a timely manner.
Would come again... as soon as I saved up enough money once more.
Zhup Zhup is only a few minutes' walk from Tai Seng MRT, and there weren't many people by the time we arrived. Although, the queue started to build up after we began eating.
We got the Supreme Prawn Noodle, Claypot Hokkien Mee, and the Ngoh Hiang tasting platter for 2. The broth was thick and sweet, richer than other prawn noodle places I usually eat at. And if there's one thing I can say about their portion size, it's that it's incredibly big. Soaked in the broth are a wide variety of ingredients that added to the dish: prawns, prawn balls, clams, shabu shabu, and pork ribs. I very much enjoyed the tobiko prawn balls, very clearly handmade but also tastes incredibly unique. The Hokkien Mee was very different from what I anticipated, in a good way! It certainly had the flavour of the broth, setting it apart from other local Hokkien Mee.
The ngoh hiang were very flavourful, very reminiscent of the ngoh hiang that I know and love. The prawn cracker was also crispy and went well with the sauce. I also loved the sotong youtiao and the seafood roll as well!
All in all, would come back when I'm craving prawn mee or hokkien mee. Maybe I could try the paofan next time!
Ordered their Fried Baby Squid, Duck Confit and Steak Frites. The food came out really fast, and the service staff were exceptionally helpful with their recommendations and occasionally checking up on us to ensure that we were having no trouble.
The Fried Baby Squid was crispy and went well with the spicy aioli, which was tangy and had a kick at the same time. The Duck Confit was tender as well, and underneath the duck was a small hill of creamy sweet potato, beans, and corn. We also had the Steak Frites; the steak was tender and juicy, and the Frites were especially crisp as well, each bite leaving a satisfying crunch. Lastly, we had the Chocolate Brownie, warm and served with a scoop of vanilla ice cream, the taste accentuated with raspberries and nuts. It made for a satisfying dessert, a fitting end to our fantastic meal.
The atmosphere was lovely as well, our table provided with a small lamp that made it all the more romantic.
Would definitely recommend Market Bistro, a good place to settle down for a quiet dinner with friends.
Had the Treasure Trove gift set from Joo Chiat Kim Choo! There were 8 rice dumplings in total, with 4 Nyonya and 4 Hokkien, as well as 5 sweet bean and 5 green tea ang ku kueh.
The Nyonya rice dumplings were chock full of meat, and they served for a really filling meal. The Hokkien rice dumplings' fillings were wide in variety, with braised pork belly, mushrooms, and the salted egg yolk added an extra hint of flavour to it. The ang ku kueh were not too sweet as well, and the texture was just like mochi!
Would highly recommend their rice dumplings, and it's great for sharing, especially since each dumpling can definitely fill you up. I'm definitely trying out some of their other dumplings as well with my friends.
