They weren’t able to make a veggie version so the chicken was subbed with a veggie spring roll and the rest included seafood. There was some traditional Singaporean Malay dishes like Kueh Pie Ti, crisp Top Hats filled with stewed julienned turnip and condiments, topped with a prawn. A seafood mini burger, a salmon roulade and a salmon blini style dish. The desserts were mini cheesecake, tiramisu, carrot cake and a mint choc mousse which was everyone’s fave.

We had a wonderful evening with gin cocktails and a stunning cheeseboard - check out the doorstop sized slices of sourdough! The types are cheese were posh ones neither of us (even my cheese connoisseur husband) had heard of, so the only one I recall is the mushroom stuff Camembert and that there was one that started with an ‘s’ and sounded like “slavako”?! In any case it was ace and I highly recommend checking out @atlasbarsg!

I have sat in 4 different cafes, with three different sets of people (the 4th was huzbo for the second time since his return from UK this morning 🥰). Caught up with a friend I met nearly exactly a year ago today @ummi_jameel, was so lovely see you and meet Kori! I enjoyed my banana bread butterscotch cake too 🍌🍞🍰 with coconut water from the one and only @pvbakery. Mixing it up tho as I was in Telok branch rather than my usual Tiong B ♥️

I went to @kumoya_singapore finally for an early bday treat to enjoy the @pusheen pop up! We queued for about 30 mins in the end to get in so not so bad. I had to have this cute burger with #Pusheen bun! So cute!! I had the veggie option, not advertised but it’s basically a quorn burger as far as I can tell. Pretty yummy but nothing amazing, it is a #gimmick after all!

Holland Village is a very expat area with some lovely cafes and restaurants. Unfortunately I found it was deja vu with most of the menus (if I see truffle fries one more time I’ll scream!) and nothing vegetarian in most outlets 😿 We ended up getting a snack of “probably the best fries in the world” at @martinzwertssingapore, the first and only branch in Asia! They are pretty good, crispy on the outside and fluffy inside 👌 just how a CHIP should be. Ps it’s chips not fries.

Absolutely I did! You can’t really taste the avocado, the doughnut itself was nice and soft and filled with a creamy filling. The pun was totally worth it. Next time I’m going for Drew Berrymore... 👀

Why has it taken me 15 months!!? I was recommended this place by a true Chicago-born gal who even used to work in a bagel factory in her teens. She knows her bagels! This place is always thronging with people and had a massive queue even at weekends when the rest of the shopping centre its in is closed an deserted. We were told it was a 10-15 min wait as the next batch was still being baked, so we waited and were rewarded with the freshest bagels straight from the oven!! This was a Fungi with mushrooms, cheddar, halloumi cheese (done so beautifully I would eat it by itself!), capsicum and hipster greens.

On Wednesday I was in Tiong Bahru once again and of course paid a visit to @pvbakery! There was one solitary Pumpkin, Basil and Pinenut quiche left with my name on it - how convenient! I can’t get enough of the thick crunchy pastry, such perfection!

My longterm ambition to see one of the wild otters remains unfulfilled but we had a great afternoon. We spotted this wonderful bar called SandBank as we passed and on the way back we popped in for a drink. It was a hot hot hot day and I was parched, they have a lovely selection of house-made fizzy drinks (non alcoholic!). I chose this beautiful cranberry and rose fizz. Shortly after this photo was taken the whole glass was empty. Also, this bar is super cool, literally, it has its own little plunge pool (swipe to see huzbo enjoying the water).
