Thoroughly enjoyed the Hokkien mee here - slippery noodles slicked in flavourful stock and studded with prawns, squid and crispy bits of lard plus a dollop of chilli to seal the deal ($4 for small). The carrot cake was forgettable though; I recommend giving it a miss.

Served during Chef Shen Tan's pop-up at Artistry where she took over the brunch menu serving her famed dishes such as Bak Chor Mee Pasta and Nasi Lemak. Was looking forward to this because I love Pulut Hitam! Combining the taste of Pulut Hitam into the execution of Sticky Date Pudding, you could taste the sweet glutinous rice within the pudding, which is made to taste like Pulut Hitam with the scoop of coconut ice-cream to replicate coconut milk. Served with a Gula Melaka Butterscotch which tasted pretty much like a decent Salted Caramel.

If you prefer something cold, be sure to try the Symmetry's cold brew.

At a healthier side, it offers something more refreshing with a slice of orange and pretty much a less sugar content black coffee.

Chef Shen Tan takes over the brunch menu at Artistry for this weekend's pop-up, whipping up dishes she is known for such as the Bak Chor Mee Pasta and Nasi Lemak. Linguine tossed in vinegar and chili flakes, the tart flavours of vinegar comes off strongly on the al-dente noodles. Pork Confit was tender with hints of 5 spices used to marinate the pork.

A bountiful breakfast like this one from Artistry is just the thing to flag off a marathon day at work when you don't know if you'll be free to have another meal for a long, long time.

This was not exactly what I was expecting, but it came out alright 6.5/10. The ham (with the fatty layer) was much thinner slice than what I was expecting. Ok, I got a bit carried away thinking the name suggests a whole block of ham! But it was slightly pan fried which makes it nice. The pancetta would have been better if it's toasted/grilled to be crispy (PLT sandwich does it best). Worth mentioning is the home made mustard (yes, it's brown not yellow) which complements the ham & pancetta. The harsh brown is a little out of place (think DOC's fried cheese nuggets) and the toast, at best ordinary.

31.12.2014 \\ Winding down the afternoon with a cup of flat white and a unique slice of cake. Grape Vitagen cake with peanut butter in the centre tastes weird at first but I guess this combination was inspired from peanut butter jelly sandwich. The cake smells very fragrant though, most probably from the Grape Vitagen.

The snaking queue at this famous dakgalbi restaurant from Korea is testament to its popularity. For the uninitiated, Galbi is basically meat marinated in a ganjang-based sauce that is grilled at the table. The star here is none other than Yoogane's Chicken Galbi - spicy marinated chicken cooked with rice cakes and vegetables. Also go for the Galbi Fried Rice, that gooey mozzarella cheese fried with rice and bulgogi chicken is oh-so-satisfying. Kimchi-lovers rejoice, the salad bar is free-flow!

The food here may not be fancy, but it's clearly prepared with heart. Start off with the Suyuk Boiled Pork Belly served with vegetables and sauces, you'll be taught how to eat it 3 different ways. Also go for the Dakgalbi, spicy marinated chicken with vegetables and Korean rice cakes. Don't polish off all the dakgalbi! Leave some and request for the leftovers to be fried with rice for an additional charge, it's worth it. Because of limited seating, be sure to make reservations!
