Look to this no-frills joint along Jalan Helang Merah for delicious and authentic Thai grub to share. There are plenty of dishes to choose from, and you might want to ask the friendly team for recommendations. Don't miss the signature Otak-Otak (RM25). Unlike the typical banana leaf-wrapped variety, expect a young coconut stuffed with fish, prawns and squid coated in a spicy and thick red curry sauce. Also good is the juicy Pandan Chicken (RM20) and the fiery Seafood Tom Yum Goong (from RM20) β€” all best enjoyed with a bowl of white rice.

Find this hidden gem tucked away along Jalan Helang Merah in Kepong (clue: look behind the bushy trees and spot the lilac-coloured walls.) Ask the friendly staff for recommendations or opt for the crowd- favourite Otak-Otak (RM25) that comes in a Thai coconut, chock-full with prawns and squid laced in the creamy otak-otak. Also good is the juicy and fragrant Pandan Chicken (RM20), Paku Salad (RM15) and the Kerabu Mango Salad (RM15). Wash it down with a creamy Thai Milk Tea (RM7).

The restaurant bears no signage – look for lilac coloured walls hidden behind bushes, and take the stairs up.

On greens, the crunchy paku came recommended and it was such a good choice. So crunchy and spicy and just damn simple and good. There are bits of tiny prawns cooked with the greens.

Simply named otak-otak but this dish is anything but. The coconut is chock-full of fish, prawns and squid cooked in a delicious and spicy sauce (or curry). All you need is a bowl of white rice.

Such a generous portion even when we asked for small! Look forward to shreds of crunchy mango doused in a sweet-spicy sauce – be careful when you eat. There’s small slices of red and green chilli mixed in! Perfect to munch on to balance the heat from the spicy otak-otak.
