Wang Xing Mala Kitchen (Far East Plaza)

We picked a healthy serving of meat, veg, mushrooms and noodles which amounted to $27 (13.5 per pax) Seasoned perfectly and better than the one at chinatown, which has dropped in standard these days - I’m a regular!

Wow, found a MLXG that I like more than the famed Ri Ri Hong in Chinatown! Located at the top floor of Far East Plaza, this was not just spicy, but fragrant at the same time, fulfilling both elements in the name. The spice tho, wasn’t as spicy as the usual 中辣 that I get. Might consider going up a notch if y’all are ordering from them! ⁣

Had to preface this by saying: (1) I love spicy food but my tolerance is embarassingly low, and (2) I've only eaten mala two other times prior to this.

Was in the area and decided to pop by after a quick Google search. I opted for 中辣 (medium spice level) and realised I had severely overestimated myself. Though I didn't manage to finish it all, it was well-cooked and prepared. The maggi mee was a little undercooked so it had a nice bite (my personal favourite!!) and the sauce complemented everything well. I enjoyed the beancurd skin and mushroom tremendously, as well as the multiple cans of drinks ($1.50 each, provided with a cup of ice as well) that helped me get through the dish.

Would try again when I'm in the area and craving a little kick, but would choose 小辣 (less spice) to give a better review.

It’s a simple plate of fried rice from a mala stall at Far East Plaza. It was savoury and yummy. It wasn’t too dry such that it’s hard to swallow, nor was it too oily that the fried rice would slide down my throat. It’s a plate of comfort food :-)

Found a mala gem at Far East Plaza! Always wanted to try mala at 313 but deterred by the ridiculous price and long queue; over here there’s no need to worry about that. Really enjoyed their more liberal use of spices (not just plain numbing spiciness) though we kinda overestimated the amount we took and was left with this lingering sadness that we finished our bowl... that we ordered another bowl and got laughed at by the staff 🙃 please don’t underorder because each bowl requires a $1+ extra payment for the mala sauce

The Mala Xiang Guo stall at Far East Plaza Level 4 has expanded to include some tze char dishes recently, so there are more options now. Price range is from $4.50 (egg fried rice) to $8 (beef noodles).

The gravy of this dish seems to be the hor fun gravy. There was a distinct egg taste in the gravy. Nothing much to shout about, just some comfort carbs when you are craving for some carbs and hor fun.
