On one lucky day, you will find this special set of soft shell crab roll. If you enjoy spice with sushi, this set is for you. It is a good set for us to switch to from the usual makis. Plus inside the box set, you also got white ginger packet other than soy sauce & wasabi. Value set for #crablovers indeed. 👌
When you feel like detox and go green, consider these 2 maki options. Natto might not be everyone's cup of tea but it is great for controlling cholesterol level. Avocado is also a "good fat" to have in your body.💪Plus these makis are #vegetarian! 😌🍃
Marketed as a healthier (lower calorie) snack. Light and crunchy, albeit rather salty (640mg per pack)
Every time I’m in Orchard Road I keep thinking, I should go treat myself and have something new… but then I end up coming back here instead, time and time again. It’s my favourite hidden spot for sushi – tucked away in Cold Storage, it’s usually got a couple of seats open even on busy weekends when the rest of the Ngee Ann City food hall is jam packed with people.
And the food? You can get freshly made sushi and donburi at the counter itself, or do what I usually do, and pick up a pack of extremely reasonably priced sushi and sashimi from the display outside. This one in the picture cost me $15 – not exactly dirt cheap, but still way more affordable than anything comparable around.
The sashimi and sushi itself were pretty fresh, firm and all around tasty. I’ve never had a bad meal here; from smaller dons that are about $7 to fancy premium meals closer to $20, it’s been a treat every single time. Plus, if you buy your sushi and eat it there, you get a free cup of hot green tea, which goes perfectly with the meal! That’s one of my favourite parts about it.
When the food court nearby is selling dishes at an average of about $5-$8, I'd willingly go for sushi instead! I got this 12-piece box because I was starving (and this totally filled me up) but there are even more affordable ones starting at $6.80. What I like about the sushi counter here is the variety and seasonal promotions on rotation! Pick your choice, grab a seat and be served with complimentary cutlery and a cup of refillable hot green tea. Very value for money and one of the better supermarket sushi around!
Apart from these assorted boxes to choose from, they also offer various bowls topped with ingredients like uni, salmon, etc., all of which are prepared upon order.
Part time job in Takashimaya means I was on the look out for affordable options during meal times! One place I always head to is Cold Storage's sushi counter. With an extensive range of freshly made sushi, you can take your pick and enjoy it in house. There's a small seating area just next to the cashier and the nice lady will provide you with complimentary cutlery and a cup of refillable hot green tea (no matter what you purchase)! This place has one of the better supermarket sushi around, fresh, quality and super super value for money especially in this area!
