I’ve always been a fan of food at Starbucks, and their breakfast selection is no exception. I especially love the new breakfast choices, with the Turkey Bacon Panini being one of my favourites.
The pale panini bread might not look that appetising on display, but once it’s been toasted and crisped up, its brown exterior and fluffy soft interior are on point. The salty and crispy turkey bacon is mellowed out and well balanced by the egg, and wilted spinach. The addition of a light layer of cream sauce with bacon bits is a nice touch as well.
Looking at the macros for this item, I think it’s a pretty solid breakfast item from Starbucks. Some may find it not filling enough but I think it’s a good sized portion for ladies. Also worth it to top up $0.70 for a black coffee for the breakfast set :)
Because red and white often reminds us of happy stuff (think Christmas), the Coconut Strawberry Bliss Frappuccino turns out to be a more favourable choice to dispel the Monday blues.
Starbucks came up with this blended beverage that is made of milk, roasted coconut flakes, coconut powder and strawberry purée. Above the whipped cream are sprinkles of crunchy desiccated coconut. If you are a coconut lover, you will find that this drink makes a perfect mocktail on a warm and humid day. Ask for a skim milk replacement to taste the full flavour of coconut.
So after the Christmas beverages, Starbucks rolled out their limited-time Espresso Confection Series, namely the Salted Caramel Mocha Crumble (left) and the Golden Sesame Caramel Crunch Latte (right), both available in hot, iced and Frappuccino versions.
Between the two, I find that the Salted Caramel Mocha Crumble has a familiar taste, probably a combination of a salted caramel dessert fused with mocha, and it also depends on how much of "crumble" the barista decides to give you on that day. It's a pretty safe choice for most people.
On the other hand, the Golden Sesame Caramel Crunch Latte was a pleasant surprise for me. Sips of milk coffee reveal the subtle but familiar aroma of roasted sesame, and if you get the Frappuccino version, you can actually eat the crunchy sesame sprinkles which reminded me of peanut candy!
A Tall-size Frappuccino of this series costs S$7.60. Quoting their marketing team, "Cheers to espresso and dessert. All at once."
Heads up.. grab a colleague/friend and enjoy your 1-for-1 Frappucino tea-time deal next week!
