Lontong from Pondok Makan Indonesian ($4/plate) at Albert Food Centre is a hidden gem.
Don't judge by its looks - the flavours are amazing!
Simple, comforting, and delicious.
Worth trying!
The Mee Rebus from Pondok Makan Indonesian at Albert Food Centre is an absolute steal for just $3.50!
This dish offers a delightful taste of traditional flavours , featuring perfectly cooked noodles in a rich and savoury gravy, topped with simple ingredients.
It's both satisfying and budget-friendly β definitely worth trying if you're in the area!
This stall has been recognised since July 2019 by the Michelin guide, but I've enjoyed their rendition from as early as April 2012.
.
Their broth is thin yet tasty with earthy savoury sweet spice flavour, with chunky compressed rice cakes that hold softly together with grainy sweet flavour.
.
The stewed vegetables (cabbage, carrots, string beans, jicama turnip) are soft and chunky too, with pleasant vegetal sweet spice flavour.
.
A bouncy hard boiled egg with eggy sweet flavour, a spongy tofu bean curd with grainy sweet flavour, and fragrant crumbly toasted grated coconut lending earthy nutty sweet flavour, completes.

Added on a begedil (+$0.50) to the Mee Rebus. Served piping hot; the noodles covered in thick flavorful gravy mixed with all the ingredients is so sedap! Will be back to eat this again π
πPondok Makan Indonesia (#01-123)
A Michelin guide recommended stall.
Lots of dishes available; decided to try Lontong as I saw others eating it and it looked delicious. The Begedil is an add on (forgot the price).
Coconuty gravy was piping hot and not overly lemak, which makes it easy to drink it all up. Comes with rice cakes, whole egg, veges, topped with chilli and grated coconut.
Will come back to try other dishes π
