8 Treasures Tea ($3)
The eight treasures tea from Old House Taste deserves mention as the tea was fragrant, thirst-quenching, refreshing. There was also a natural sweetness probably from the longan ingredient. The tea did an amazing job at cleansing all that chilli oil that’s so prevalent in sichuan cuisine.
Pig Intestine Noodles ($7)
The pork intestine noodles from Old House Taste was probably the best albeit ugliest dish of the evening. The intestines were braised till silky soft and did carry with it the porky stench from the offals. The noodles was just the right texture and the numbing spicy gravy made this dish a killer combination. I do recommend that this bowl be shared as the portion is rather sizeable.
Roasted Bullfrog ($7/pc)
These roasted bullfrogs from Old House Taste smelt amazingly fragrant and was extremely tasty all thanks to the cumin powder generously sprinkled all over the frogs’ sexy back😂! I can’t decide whether I loved this dish or not cos though the meat of the frog was intensely seasoned, it was also a tad dry possibly due to the over-roasting.
It was less deep-fried skin frolic and more cube-y flesh galore in this fairly conventional sendup. 3.6/5

PS There's a 20% discount on-going and a fairly lovely complimentary red bean dessert for each guest, so don't say bojio etc.
