Coffee and Japanese grub go hand in hand at this casual eatery perched on the first floor in Kelana Jaya. You might recognise the team running this joint – they previously owned Setia Alam’s popular Comma Cafe. The small menu they currently offer focuses on Japanese dons and ramen. Dive straight for the recommended Oyakodon Rice Bowl (RM18) with juicy chicken and egg on a bed of fluffy Japanese rice. On noodles, the Chicken Miso Ramen (RM18) is a hearty, savoury bowl of goodness. Coffee is good here, and on our visit, we got to sip on a fruity Black coffee (RM10) brewed with beans from local roasters, The Hub.
Can’t go wrong with this dish and OKINII’s version is very nice. Again, it features the juicy chicken on a mountain of rice with egg and thick onion rings. Come here for this if you’re feeling extremely hungry on your lunch break.
Opened by the peeps that ran COMMA Eatery & Coffee in Setia Alam (it’s now closed), this cosy spot focuses on Japanese-inspired eats and coffee. The friendly owners recommended this dish and we were very satisfied with it. Juicy slices of chicken in a very savoury broth – we finished the soup too! Really simple and good stuff.
On my visit to this new cafe in Kelana Jaya, they were serving coffee brewed with some really delicious beans roasted by The Hub! For the black, a Panama Santa Finca Teresa and for the white, a Costa Rica. The former provided an interesting sweet-sour flavour profile. The latter, while a bit sour at the beginning, it turned out very sweet and nutty once cooled down.
