So refreshingly good.
All their "jelly" was so compatible with my sweet tooth. The "red" jelly was filled with strawberry flavours that burst into your mouth.
Comes with pudding jelly, grass jelly, pearls and tapioca.
Damn shiok.
Recalled having come across Miss Aiyu quite some time back past their usual operating hours, though we had not really marked it in our minds to make a revisit to check them out since we really had not heard much about the stall since. That was until recently that we had chanced upon a video of Miss Aiyu going around social media about their concept and story; this is how Miss Aiyu piqued our interest enough to have us consider making a trip to Teck Ghee Market & Food Centre to check them out. Located in a corner unit of the food centre, Miss Aiyu is a stall that is relatively easy to find — they occupy a stall unit that is at the far corner of the hawker centre closer to Blk 411 Ang Mo Kio Avenue 10, and has a frontage facing Ang Mo Kio Avenue 10 as well. It should not be too difficult to notice their presence, considering how Miss Aiyu has a pretty bright signage that looks colourful and lively; the signboard bearing the logo of their establishment which happens to be a caricature of the lady boss herself, with two of their signature items illustrated on the signage as well. As the namesake of the establishment suggests, Miss Aiyu does specialise in Taiwanese-style desserts with a heavy emphasis on Aiyu Jelly. Apart from Aiyu Jelly though, Miss Aiyu does also have Soya Beancurd drinks, as well as more localised offerings like Red Tea Longan.
One thing that distinguishes Miss Aiyu apart from most dessert stalls in hawker centres is not just about its emphasis on Taiwanese-style desserts; Miss Aiyu also does seem to make their own Aiyu Jelly in-house as well. Considering so, Miss Aiyu has quite a lineup of inventive Aiyu Jelly flavours that we had not quite come across before — such flavours include the Lemon Aiyu, Chrysanthemum Aiyu, Butterfly Pea Aiyu, Wintermelon Aiyu, and Passionfruit Aiyu. Patrons whom would like to try the various flavours of Aiyu Jelly that Miss Aiyu has to offer can go for the “Signature” 3 Aiyu Combo — that being said, we went for the Chrysanthemum Aiyu Combo since we are very much into tea and floral-infused desserts in general.
Miss Aiyu does not describe the elements that are included in their desserts — that being said, one can observe elements such as that of the Chrysanthemum Aiyu, tapioca pearls, sweet potato and taro balls, longan and shaved ice that comes along with the Chrysanthemum Aiyu Combo. Digging into the bowl, it is most certain that the flavours of chrysanthemum tea are infused into the Aiyu Jelly itself; while most stalls would provide lime to be squeezed on the Aiyu Jelly to give it a zingy note amidst the sweetness of the syrup, none of such is required here as there is that familiar note of chrysanthemum tea that perfumes within the springy and bouncy Aiyu Jelly. These flavours also become more prominent especially when one chews on the tapioca pearls; these are pretty much the same black pearls that would come with bubble tea — we are suspecting that the syrup does quite the magic for the Chrysanthemum Aiyu here. The shaved ice is a little bit on the coarser side for our preferences but we did notice that the texture of the shaved ice is largely consistent throughout; the other elements like the sweet potato / taro balls and the longan were good to have — the former giving a bit of a chew, while the longan provides a good bite and a slight sweetness. All things considered, Miss Aiyu is that sort of establishment that comes with lots of heart and passion, especially from the way that they strive to create their own character with their innovative line-up of Aiyu Jelly. With their desserts being priced from $2.20 to $4.50, Miss Aiyu is one location worth making a trip to just to see how creative can one be with Aiyu Jelly!
