($8.80) I finally tried their banh mi even though my previous job got one outlet but I didn't really tried it. So I decided to try since its no long time to eat banh mi. I felt that it's not that bad since got people recommended for chicken one. The sliced chicken was really marinated well w the sauce and also soft texture (not that hard) so but I saw the main menu got less choice to try it out beside bahn mi. I felt that it's quite soggy tbh as they put too much sauce inside the bread. The bread was quite crunchy and crispy texture for a while.
Mrs pho used to be the premier Viet restaurant in Singapore half a decade ago. Now it's franchised and it's really damn lousy, management wise. Messenger uses bot that's absolutely useless, they don't even bother updating closures on their own damn website, and the entire staff is just locals who don't know Viet food and can't answer questions. There are better Viet places now, compared to their deteriorating standard, evidenced by the closure of their taka outlet
Food:
The baguette itself is not bad actl. But still overall abit dry, and the way they make the sandwich is wrong because it should be built from the base and not the crease. This way makes it very difficult to eat, plus the ingredients weren't particularly good anyway
Abit too acidic and lacks body
But Viet coffee is intense and so still much better than normal coffee, thus it's still good overall
NO MORE SOUS VIDE BEEF RIBS
Soup is still good. Deep enough and the spices come thru, I think star anise in particular and it elevated the meatiness of the broth. Also wagyu was barely tender enough, definitely get wagyu because I can only imagine how tough normal beef would be. This wagyu isn't melt in your mouth. In fact there's a critical error, the central silver vein is not removed and it's way more chewy as a result.
Overall still pretty decent
The rolls are quite small, prawns are tiny. The sauce is pretty good tho (some kind of savory peanut sauce). At least the skin is chewy and the vegetables are quite fresh.
Not worth tho
The meats were dry and tough. Soup wasn’t very deep or rich for “12 hours” LOL.
But for the price… can’t expect much
