After hearing so much about Miraku, I finally had the chance to visit, and the omakase experience was nothing short of spectacular.
Was served with a wide variety of fresh fish, with each piece meticulously crafted to showcase the unique flavors and textures. From the delicate Aodai and chutoro to the rich, flame-torched herring, every bite was a delight. The creamy otoro and briny murasaki uni were standout favorites, melting effortlessly on the palate.
The tasty mini maze don, featuring tuna belly and salmon roe, was accompanied by a comforting bowl of warm white miso soup, adding a cozy finish to the savory courses.
To end the meal, the refreshing and light homemade lychee ice cream served as the perfect finale, beautifully complemented by a calming cup of hojicha tea.
Visited a new Hainanese Chicken Rice restaurant on Changi Road, just a 15-minute walk from Kembangan MRT station. I ordered their recommended chicken rice set along with a few other dishes. The chicken was tender and full of flavor, and the rice was perfectly cooked—not too oily. The soup was light and refreshing, but the real standout was the chili and ginger-garlic sauce. in addition to chicken rice, they offer a variety of other dishes, including claypot soups. Overall, the food quality is excellent and offers great value for money. It's a perfect spot, especially for large group gatherings. Family friendly.
Had the pleasure of dining at Hiryu Omakase, where the experience was nothing short of extraordinary. The entire meal was a showcased of the wide variety of fresh, high-quality sushi, reflecting the finest ingredients and meticulous preparation.
The meal started off with a warm and perfectly presented Chawanmushi, paired with mushrooms, setting the tone for what was to come. The sushi course, crafted by the Chef, was a masterclass in precision and taste.
Each piece was a work of art:
1. Kanpachi topped with chives
2. Akame Suki
3. Scallop with a unique egg vinegar twist
4. Flame-torched Kamasu accented with mustard seed
5. Bafun Uni (Uni was super creamy and rich in favour)
6. Kinmedai
7. The melt-in-your-mouth Otoro enhanced with Yama Wasabi (5 stars)
The experience culminated with a handroll featuring chopped Toro mixed with spring onions, marinated radish, and sesame—a perfect end to a sublime meal.
Discovered a fantastic steakhouse in Telok Ayer that excels in both quality and service. The ambiance is warm and inviting, and the staff are exceptionally professional and friendly, offering top-tier customer service.
We started with the Burrata Di Puglise, which was perfectly portioned for two. The apple slices paired beautifully with the burrata, making it an excellent appetizer.
For the main course, we had their signature Meadesmoore Cut, which was the highlight of our meal. This 500g selection of three different muscle cuts, as explained by the staff, was cooked to perfection—each bite was tender and flavorful. The Salsa Verde sauce added a fresh twist that enhanced the dish.
Our side dish was the Roasted Honey Saffron Cauliflower, which was surprisingly full of flavor and complemented the main course wonderfully.
For dessert, we indulged in their seasonal National Day special, featuring kaya cream, coffee cubes, and crispy bread cubes. The combination of flavors was unique and harmonious, creating a satisfying end to the meal.
Overall, we highly recommend this spot, especially for steak lovers. It's definitely a must-try, and a great place to bring a date too!
An authentic Japanese izakaya located in the central area, this spot is ideal for after work dinners with colleagues. Be sure to try their Pork Jowl and Garlic Fried Rice—the pork is incredibly tender, with just the right balance of sweetness, fattiness, and savoriness. The Garlic Fried Rice pairs perfectly with it. While the portions could be larger, the quality of the food is undeniable. This place is highly recommended for group gatherings, and they also offer a wide variety of sake and alcohol selections.
Visited this authentic and affordable HK Cafe near Novena MRT station. Tried their Tomato Based Baked Rice with Chicken and the Luncheon Meat with Scrambled Egg Toast. Food was fresh, hot, and definitely worth trying. And portions were generous, almost too much to finish, making it a great value for the money.
Dish Reviewed: Claypot Hokkien Mee
Rating: ★★★★☆ (4/5)
Review:
Had the pleasure of dining at Zhup Zhup by One Prawn & Co, known for their distinctive fusion of traditional prawn noodles.
Presentation: The Hokkien mee arrived in a claypot, keeping it hot and savoury, topped with a generous serving of clams and three large, fresh prawns.
Taste: The dish was rich and savory, more towards the creamy flavour.
Portion: Though it initially seemed small, the portion was perfectly sized, as too much may be too jelat.
Also got the prawn paste fried chicken wings (4 pieces), and they were incredibly crispy and perfectly cooked.
