The drinks here are crazily creative and fun, and the food was surprisingly good. The service staff were really nice also, taking the time to explain the inspiration and flavours in the cocktails.
The place is also very comfortable and cosy, so it's a nice place to relax with friends with good food and even better drinks!!
Hiryu’s Aoi Omakase lunch ($128++) is such great value! Every course was carefully prepared, and you get eight courses including a wagyu don, which was the absolute highlight of the meal. It came with shaved truffles, uni, A5 Wagyu, and foie gras all in one bowl. It was rich, buttery, and absolutely delicious. The ambience is classy yet cosy, as the staff are warm and friendly. If you love Japanese food, this place is a must-try!
Had an amazing dining experience with my friends for dinner. My favourites included the super tender Moo Ping smoked pork ribs, tangy charred corn som tum and Papaya Som Tum, crispy Morning Glory Tempura, and grilled squid.
Their cocktails are INCREDIBLE, and the lemongrass jelly was a refreshing to a flavourful dinner. Highly recommend for anyone craving delicious Thai cuisine!
Gunther's really impressed me with their Chef's seasonal set lunch.
For appetisers, I had the smoked egg with seared toro and the clams cooked a la minute. The richness of the soft boiled egg and seared toro paired amazingly, and the citrusy sauce added a nice tang that added balanced. The clams cooked a la minute were another hit. They were plump, sweet and fresh. And the sauce—buttery with a hint of citrus and herbs—complemented them perfectly. I was surprised by how much I liked this!
The wagyu for the main course was delicious. So juicy, flavorful, and tender. What I liked most was how it was served with different sauces and sides (sweet corn, bordelaise, mustard, etc), allowing me to mix and match for different flavors and textures.
Dessert was an apple tart with ice cream. The tart was warm and had a nice flaky texture and a nice caramalised base. The ice cream had a pleasantly distinct flavour of rum.
Overall, Gunther's offers a lunch that's really worth the price. The quality of ingredients shines through, and the flavours in each dish are very well-balanced. A great choice if you're looking for a top-notch dining experience.
Everything I ate was so delicious and enjoyable. The ingredients served are fresh, high quality, and the dishes they serve are very creative. E.g. I had chawanmushi with braised wagyu–so tender and flavourful, probably the best chawanmushi i’ve ever had in my life.
The sushi was great too, even the akami nigiri, which I usually don’t enjoy because it can be a little sour. But they marinate the fish in some house soy sauce which makes it tender and removes any unpleasant flavours. They really understand how to balance and enhance the flavours of their ingredients.
The restaurant said they change their seasonal items every month so you’ll always be getting something new and exciting whenever you visit them. The chefs are also very kind and friendly. Super recommend!! :)
The fried baby squid with the chili mayo is crazy good. So flavourful and crunchy, I couldnt stop eating it hahaha
Their duck confit is also good. Savouriness was on point and goes well with the sweet potato puree. I also LOVE the raspberry sorbet with the cheesecake. The slight tang of the raspberry really complements the rich creaminess of the cheesecake.
Would come again!!
Had such a wonderful time at Meadesmoore!
I really enjoyed the unique selection of meat dishes. I tried the shaved ox tongue and was pleasantly surprised how tender and flavourful it was. The herbs and vinaigrettes also complemented the steak and ox tongue well, and added another layer of elevation to the dishes.
The tiramisu is a classic dish but the executed it really well! The cream was so rich but not too sweet, and the liquor they used in the sponge gave it a sweet kick.
The steak and ribs were so flavourful and juicy. The steak wasn’t tough either. The portions were generous, too!
The environment of the restaurant is cozy and relaxed environment, definitely a hidden gem.
Beautiful interior design, staff were super attentive and fast.
My favourite dish was the Chawanmushi with scallop. It has a cheese flavour, which was really surprising. Tasted really good especially when mixed with the wasabi. Never had Chawanmushi like this before!
They have the typical Omakase dishes like nigiri and other seasonal ingredients, but they also put a spin on some of their dishes like the Chawanmushi and Miso soup, which came with a type of lotus jelly.
Highly recommended for an affordable Omakase đź‘Ť
