More of a medium-dark roast which isn’t really my thing, but my dining companion enjoyed it! If you prefer your coffees on the lighter side, I’d recommend going for a single shot instead ☕️

If you’re looking at this picture and wondering “what on earth…”, same bro, same. When it arrived on our table, I thought it looked like a kid’s arts & craft project. Looks aside, and based on flavour alone, I still would recommend that you take a hard pass on this dish. It was overly sweet, no depth/layering of flavours and the pancake was underwhelming - not crisp or fluffy or anything really. McDonald’s hotcakes over this anyday. This dish was sorely lacking especially compared to the buckwheat pancakes available at Common Man’s other outlets - those had great texture and a perfect balance of flavours. My dining companion lamented that if not for the pretty plate the dish was served on, the dish would have been sent back to the kitchen. ☠️

This is a staple order on all my visits to Common Man Joo Chiat - portobello is succulent while the sweetness of the pumpkin nicely contrasts the parmesan. A 3P knockout combo that does a little dance in my mouth. The meal is nicely rounded out with a mixed grain base of barley + quinoa for a light but satiating brunch! (P.S. I recommend requesting for black pepper to add that extra zing ⚡️)

Fast becoming one of my favourite food spots, totally takes me back to my time in Australia and New Zealand with the quality of food and friendly staff.

The avocado toast was executed perfectly! A dish I typically stay away from when I’m eating out (“can make at home what!”), but this one I’d happily pay for. Avocado was fresh, seasoned to absolute perfection, and on a seedy not-too-dense sourdough which is baked in-house. The side salad and sauerkraut provided a lovely element of zingy acidity and texture (+ extra health).

Also ordered a single-shot almond milk cappuccino which I adored! It was silky smooth, light-medium roast, a rounded chocolatey-ness without much acidity. I love that they carry Milk Lab which does the creamiest almond milk I’ve come across to date.

The staff are all just the cherry on top - sunshiny attitudes that make you feel right at home!
