We visited Hathaway recently and loved the experience. The dinner buffet at Capital Tower is boutique in scale but focused on quality. Priced at $96++ per adult for 1.5 hours, the spread feels thoughtfully curated. The 1‑for‑1 promotion for DBS, POSB, Maybank, and OCBC cardholders runs until 30th June 2026 and is available on Saturdays, Sundays, and Public Holidays, bringing the value to about $58 nett per guest after GST and service charge. Free‑flow Prosecco is available at $36++ per pax.
Western selections featured Fresh Oysters that were briny, moderately sized, plump, and downright shiok. I kept slurping them and easily polished off more than 18 pieces, making this alone worth the visit. Barramundi Meuniere was well executed but felt overshadowed once compared with the richer curries. Roasted Australian Beef with Entrecote Sauce was tender overall, though some cuts leaned dry. Linguine Aglio Olio with Mixed Seafood carried a tastisfying umami depth and was well balanced, while Gratinated Cheese and Potato offered a simple comfort bite. Roasted Asparagus was crunchy and well seasoned. Stir‑Fried Buttermilk Prawns were cocktail‑sized, bouncy, and nicely flavoured, adding a playful touch to the Western spread.
Southeast Asian flavours gave the buffet its distinctive character. Ah Nya’s Fish Curry was silky, layered, and more enjoyable than the barramundi. Beef Cheek Rawon was heavier but tastier, with meat more tender than the roast beef, though having a lot could feel jelak. Gado Gado came with a rich Peanut Sauce that turned out to be one of the most memorable elements of the meal. It was versatile enough to elevate other dishes, even rescuing the Chicken Galae Skewers, which were seasoned well but whose marinated sauce lacked depth. Nasi Ulam and Sambal were fragrant though fairly normal, while Tempeh Orek was savoury and crunchy. Kueh Pie Tee was pre‑arranged and filled, making it very easy to eat without fuss, while Razor Clams with Glass Noodle and Garlic Soy added a savoury seafood garlic punch.
Desserts were the strongest section. Moist Carrot Cake with Cream Cheese Frosting was comforting, while the Coffee Chocolate Tartlet and Lemon Meringue Tartlet stood out as highlights. The Coffee Chocolate Tartlet impressed with its stronger, deeper flavour that lingered pleasantly, while the Lemon Meringue Tartlet offered a refreshing contrast, light with a sweet‑sour balance that cut through the heavier mains. Pulut Hitam with Coconut Milk was not burnt, pleasantly chewy, and balanced in sweetness. Sago Gula Melaka was interactive, with coconut cream and gula melaka provided separately so you could add to your desire, making it a fun and customisable finish. Traditional favourites like Kueh Ko Swee and Kueh Salat added a local touch.
Drinks were kept simple with coffee, tea, and juices in orange and apple. Service was attentive and efficient, with plates cleared quickly to keep the dining flow seamless. The atmosphere felt intimate compared to larger hotel buffets, and while the spread is smaller, the quality and thoughtful touches, from peeled prawns to pre‑arranged kueh pie tee, made the experience wonderful.

Tried the Sea & Grill Buffet at Carlton City and all I can say is mediocre food with a hefty price tag. This buffet is only available every Friday and Saturday for dinner. Even the options felt kind of limited. Like, I am paying such a premium price at $158++ per pax but there is no cheese, no oyster, etc. Better off going to some other hotel buffet that serves these items and also at a cheaper price. Well, at least there is a 1-for-1 discount with Bank of China, Citibank, DBS/POSB, and OCBC cardholders. The promo ends 27 Dec 2025, but I still do not really find it worthwhile. I know I sound harsh, but oh wells.
Their main attraction is the suckling pig, but boy oh boy, it doesn't live up to the expectation I had. Everything was alright — the skin is crackling, the fat is melty — except the meat, which had a strong porky taste and was a tad firm, making the overall experience quite off-putting. The slow roasted rib eye was too dry and raw. Even the red wine sauce did not help much in improving the taste.
Cakes, kueh, and pastries looked good but tasted pretty mid. Fruits were cut too thick for a single bite and were not sweet or fresh. The DIY shaved ice melted too fast. The breads and drinks section were kinda limited. I expected better for the ice cream brand, but they served Mingo cup.
Well, at least there were some good ones. The chilled tiger prawns were fresh, sweet, and oceanic. The salmon sashimi was thick-cut, rich, and meaty. The laksa was tasty and rich in flavour, but the lobster given in it was pathetic. Luckily, there was chilled Boston lobster from the seafood section for you to add on your own. Moo Ping and satay were flavourful. The yam paste was delicious, thick, and rich in flavour, but a tad dry. Maybe adding a layer of oil will help.
At least they were proactive in clearing the plates fast.

Visiting @endining_sg again to try the shabu-shabu from the All-You-Can-Eat Japanese Buffet!
As you might already know, this buffet offers a wide variety of dishes, especially shabu shabu and niche Okinawan delights rarely seen in other Japanese buffets across Singapore.
Previously, I recommended the Beef Steak, Rafute, Beef Carpaccio, Scallop Mentaiko Yaki, and Ice Cream. But this time? Forget all that. Just focus on the shabu shabu. Order one set of Assorted Shabu Shabu Vegetables and as many plates of Beef Shabu Shabu (100g) as you can eat. You won’t regret it and you’ll definitely cover the cost of the buffet. 😏
The beef is of good quality, with beautiful natural marbling. Just grab the whole plate, dump it into the dashi soup, cook for 7–12 seconds, then plate and eat. No sauces needed, the natural sweetness and meatiness shine through, and the soup essence coats your tongue with juicy flavour. If they offered raw egg, it’d be perfect. I tried the Pork Shabu Shabu too, but the taste was only mid. The vegetables help add sweetness to the savoury soup.
Glad to report the oysters were fresher, juicier, and brinier this time. Scallops didn’t quite hit the mark. Sashimi was fresher than last visit, but Beef Steak declined a little.
Keep track of your orders, they tend to bring wrong items or extras you didn’t ask for. And don’t forget to spam the ice cream after your meal.

Back here at Swensen's Unlimited to try what I missed last time and check if certain dishes have improved.
Swensen's Unlimited is no stranger to serving up buffet items from Western, Nyonya, Indian, Local, seafood, desserts, and their famous ice cream and gelato with 48 rotating flavours.
Overall, food quality remains average. Some items improved, some declined, and others stayed the same. A few new dishes were genuinely delicious.
The chilled prawn weren’t as fresh as the last time I had them, and the roasted delights still cmi. Their pizza was still great with its cheesy content. Smoked duck carbonara was awesome, flavourful and creamy. Satay was really good: nicely charred, juicy, and tender. Better to eye or camp there as it’s gone quite fast. Local items like the mee goreng were actually good tho.
Time management is key: spend the first 45 minutes on mains, and the last 45 on desserts. With 48 rotating flavours, I got to try more than I did previously.
Queue systems at each station are still confusing. Customers often don’t know where to order or collect food, leading to crowding and blocked walkways.
Dining time is strictly 90 minutes. Lunch is more value-for-money.
