Small Bites & Finger Food✌🏻👅
Stumbled upon this shop with a really interesting storefront, that if you go at night you’d probably get a glimpse of Japan with the whole JDM initial D vibe. The store does not seem to have proper meals, but they do have a good selection of bites. While I came in just wanting a drink, seeing how there was a namesake item on their menu, I had to try it. It was a crispy deep fried tofu with their special chilli dressing. This chilli was on the slightly watery side, but was delightfully spicy, tangy, and just a bit sweet. I quite enjoyed it as a bar snack, but above all, I think I’ll come back for the really nice and chill vibes.

Prawn paste and minced greens on toast. Really liked this, especially the prawn paste flavour which reminds me of har jeong kai. The meat have a nice chewy texture to the toast, and the mayo by the side really have a nice creaminess to every bite. Highly recommend getting this appetiser to share!

Saw a number of reviews hyping this up but other than the unorthodox aesthetic. The karage chicken was a tad bit too dry for me, but the chef’s egg mayo added a light creaminess and sourness to jazz up the chicken. Not sure what the gold dust was for - interesting but does not really add value in my opinion.

Gourmet fusion platter which consists of miniature bakkwa slices made of premium pork hind leg meat with pork belly in one slice. The meat was grilled with charcoal at Bee Cheng Hiang’s Grillery, unlike in the normal shop where it’s grilled over the electric grill. The fusion meat was slightly thicker, but also juicier and with more texture, which I really enjoyed. An interesting concept at the grillery where you can have bakkwa and pair it with wine👅 A suitable place to bring your friends from overseas who want to try some local delights!
Thanks Burpple for the invite✨
Was battling between this flavour and the buffalo wings, but the staff told us that this was spicier. Indeed, a good kick of spice, though I personally do not enjoy honey-like sweetness in my food. Thankfully the garlic, sriracha, and blue cheese ranch made the honey sweetness lighter for me. Pretty decent starter to have! Though I’d love to try their state fair fries the next time🤭

Haven’t been to Clarke Quay in a long while and just realised that Chupitos had gone through a major revamp - going beyond shots, but also legitimately delicious food. Got the wasabi prawn tacos upon the staff’s recommendation, who said it was a hot favorite. And I absolutely loved it! The crispy nori taco shell was delightful, and so crunchy together with the wasabi mayo prawns. The tobiko, sushi rice and furikake beneath gave a dash of saltiness which complemented the creamy mayo really well. So fun to eat!

Happy hour oysters cost $5/pc which made this slightly more worth it. Just that having tartar sauce on oysters wasn’t exactly the most palatable to me - the creaminess didn’t suit the wet, juicy, freshness of the oyster. That being said, still interesting and worth a try. Would’ve loved to try the other flavours such as the spicy garlic, but I guess that would have to wait.

Chocolate banana chococro - I’m ashamed to have taken so long to even try this. Such a delightful, easy, sweet midday treat to have. The chocolate banana filling was an excellent balance of sweetness, and the pastry puff was light and not too flakey.

I really enjoyed the octopus with wasabi marinate. Fresh octopus with a nice, hot, wasabi kick. My only gripe would be the portion that was way too small.

Rich lobster bisque with a splash of brandy. Though the brandy taste was not very apparent, the bisque itself was very appetising.

Roasted cauliflower dashed with Dukkah Spice, wasn’t to my palate and cauliflower wasn’t very well executed, especially as I was hoping it could’ve been more roasted.

The crust of these empanadas gave one warm and toasty experience despite the really hot weather. I don’t really know how else to describe it other than a non-spicy vegetarian curry puffs. While it doesn’t sound impressive, it packed a nice spiced flavour with a combination of leek, cheese, potato and corn. Complemented by the sumac ranch, it gave every bite a refreshing tartness.
