Lumo is the latest venture by veteran chef Martin Wong, who used to run Mythz & Myths. A sleek restaurant and cocktail bar along South Bridge Road, this is where you'll find Modern European creations like Aged Chicken Mid-Wings ($17) that've been aged and cooked over woodfire, as well as an aromatic Sakura Pork Chop ($36). Their drinks are based on the concept of breakfast. Try the Stevie J ($20), a Manhattan-type drink with notes of baked apples.

Remember NOX, that dine-in-the-dark restaurant at Beach Road? From the same team comes a brighter new concept LUX, a casual restaurant right next door that's all about traditional Scandinavian cuisine. That's right, think juicy Swedish Meatballs ($29), Pickled Herring ($21), and Norwegian Shrimp on toast ($20). For dessert, the sticky rich Swedish Chocolate Brownie will have you very, very satisfied. The LUX Burger ($17), a mixed veal-beef burger that's inspired by the Swedish classic Wallenbergare, is a must-try.

This excellent Swiss restaurant that opened several months ago surely caught our attention. Burppler Vicki Ng describes Coucou as "a hidden treasure, tucked away at the vibrant Craig Road that offers amazing Swiss cuisine. The place is really chill and intimate, great for romantic date nights or celebration with friends." Crowd-favourites include the Zurich-style Chicken Ragout with Rösti, Pork Tenderloin with Morels Mushroom Sauce, and the lunch set (from $20) of Rigatoni Pasta and Thin Fries.

Brown Butter is the latest cafe to hit Orchard Road. The most popular dish in the Forum Shopping mall cafe is the Lemon Cheesecake ($8.90) that, as Burppler Jonathan Lim describes, "came literally in the shape of a slice of Swiss cheese, although the tangy texture reminded me more of a pudding than cheesecake." You might also like the Insta-pretty Avocado Smoothie ($10.90), which comes with Pink Avocado Ice Cream in the shape of an avocado.

By the folks behind the now-defunct Non-Entree Dessert, Sweet Thoughts is located at JForte Sportainment Centre, just a short distance from Kovan MRT Station. Expect modern desserts with an Asian influence. From the Shaved Ice series come flavours such as Houjicha and Black Sesame. For something unique, try the Pandan Kaya that comes with chewy pandan sago, black sugar jelly, croutons for crunch, and a unique "Gula Melaka Cheese Cap". You can also add on Homemade Tang Yuan!

Find this stall in Centuries Foodcourt within Viva Business Park at Chai Chee (it also houses Burgs by Project Warung and Bai Nian Niang Dou Fu) for comforting Pig Leg Rice ($4.50). It comes in a decent portion and reminds Burppler Xing Wei of a good lu rou fan, but with trotters instead. The leg is immensely tender and the gelatinous, fatty parts melt in the mouth. Also, try the The Large Intestines Mee Sua.

This new hole-in-the-wall cafe in Maxwell House serves up simple brunch grub and speciality coffee brewed with beans roasted by Sarnies. Dishes to try include the Rendang on Toast - spicy beef rendang with a perfectly poached egg and crusty slice of sourdough that absorbs the oozy yolk and gravy. Want something a little safer? The Breakfast Waffle with egg and bacon is perfectly executed, and a match made in heaven.

Indulge in the finer things in life with artisanal gelato made from fresh seasonal ingredients. This new gelato shop located within Stars of Kovan is opened by the same folks behind Two Bakers, and is a takeaway kiosk with common seating area available.
Burppler Xing Wei describes the Banana Milk flavour as "reminiscent of the beverage it was meant to replicate — the flavours here are significantly less artificial, yet carrying a distinct sweetness from the bananas churned into a milk base."

Back in the burger game is Wildfire Burgers, which left the local food scene in the middle of last year. Now, they are back with blazing good burgers that are thick and juicy as heck. The signature Shabu Burger ($13) features tender beef shabu and burmashimeji mushrooms that are cooked in a bincho-tan charcoal grill. Try the Burnt Cheesecake too. Burppler Veronica describes it as "... extraordinary! I checked and was told there's a secret ingredient but it elevated the taste profile to be more nuanced and delicious."

Find this newly opened patisserie-cafe along Amoy Street for intricate and delicate cakes. Burppler Fiona Ting (who is a pastry chef) describes the Orh Nee Slice ($8), "although this slice of cake carried a fluffy light texture; a distinctive difference from the usual sticky heavy dessert, it didn’t disappoint. Light vanilla sponge with fragrant Pandan Yam paste, chunks of yam, mousse-like textured coconut chantilly and crunchy whites chocolate pearls. I’ll actually come back just for the cake. Coffee was great too!" Burppler Foodie Goh also recommends the Yuzu Madeleines ($2.50 for 2pcs).

The second outlet of popular Peranakan restaurant The Blue Ginger is an extension of the restaurant's award-winning Straits Chinese cuisine. Expect flavour-packed classics like Ayam Panggang Blue Giinger ($16), Pork Ribs Assam ($20), and Kerabu Kacang Botol ($11.50), a spicy winged bean salad that defies the expectations of Burppler Julius Lim. "My favourite from the three has got to be the beef rendang which is made from a family recipe rempah that are pounded by hand and cooked with love."
