We visited this place for lunch after our morning trip to the imperial palace and east garden of the imperial palace. It took awhile for us to find this restaurant as it was situated in the basement underground malls and our GPS told us we have reached but we just couldn't find it! We opted for the buffet instead of the set meal. We could choose from the spread of pork, chicken and beef. There was a spread of vegetables and mushroom, rice, curry, miso soup, juices, tea/coffee and ice cream! When we first started eating we were confused because the soup was tasteless plain water. Even after adding the vegetables and mushrooms didn't give the soup more flavour. So we observed the Japanese locals around us how they ate it and they seemed to enjoy their meal dipping their ingredients in the sauces so we followed suit. The sauces did give the meat more flavour. I would have preferred if there was more taste to the soup 🤭 there is a time limit for the ala carte buffet and they will come around to confirm your last order (the lunch buffet timing restriction was also helpful for us because we were rushing back to our hotel at Akasaka after this to head over to Nartia airport haha)
So this concludes all the food trips I have made for my 9D8N Tokyo + kawaguchiko + Kawagoe trip! till next time Japan! (On our first trip to Okinawa a few years ago, we wanted to eat an unagi meal as well. But driver partner took the wrong highway exit and we ended up speeding ahead way past where we were supposed to exit. 😂 and since we incurred additional toll charges for taking the short cut highway, it didn't make sense to turn back again so we made impromptu plans to ditch the unagi place)

So this time round on our last night in Tokyo, we made sure that we had our unagi cravings satisfied! (Because it is sooooo expensive to eat unagi in singapore. S$40++ at outram park anyone? Haha. Cheapest I can find is S$10+ at togather cafe at novena) The queue was roughly around 30mins long? We were queueing in the darkness (it was still before 6pm when we reached) and coldness and in the rain. This portion here costs 880 yen and the one in the second photo costs 1000 yen. Soooo value for money and spoon licking good! Other than the difference in the shape of bowl, we still can't figure out why one portion costs more than the other. Both unagi portions seem to be the same?? Haha are we really paying 120 yen more just for a circular bowl? 🤔 This remains a mystery to me up till today! Pls enlighten me anyone?

We got the normal one without ice cream for 220 yen (because we thought it will be too messy to eat it with ice cream). It wasn't served warm though and it was super plain in the interior like any other white bread. So this was a mehhhh for us! It was one of the first few shops you will see when you finish touring the asakusa temple. curious by what it was, we got one green tea flavoured (170 yen) one to try. It was essentially green tea mochi that was fried. by the time we reached our hotel area at akadaka-mitsuke it was already 1130pm. But our hotel area had many night pubs that were still open late into the night. Our choice of food was gindako tako balls! The akadaka-mitsuke outlet opens till 1am! How great is that! But it will also mean that hotels in this area will hear the noisy bars till quite late in the night. But our hotel (Henn Na Hotel Tokyo Akasaka) was further down the stretch of bars and in a quieter area so all was good! Anw, I super love the mentaiko sauce that accompanies this tako ball! I only ate gindako once in Singapore because it was pricey... seafood carbonara pasta (850 yen) quick dinner meal break at zambini brother ristorante while waiting for the next fireworks show to start! We ate this as our breakfast right after our first two single riders rides for the day! Our first two rides were raging spirits (because this one got 360 degree loop) and Indiana Jones adventure temple of the crystal skull! After conquering these two rides I felt less afraid as the other rides were of less kick (apart from tower of terror). Saw someone recommending this smoked chicken leg (500 yen) and decided to put it in our itinerary too. This tastes like pizza hut hot and spicy drumlet but upsized! 500 yen for one paper box. The popcorn is lightly flavoured so you won't feel that it is too salty. They are available infront of the dockside stage and next to aquatopia. Queue wasn't too long for this flavour. Our plan was to eat it while waiting in queue for tower of terror (we ended up waiting 3 hours to get in because there were no fast past queue for this ride on our day of visit mega sad)! But we finished this whole box within like 10mins? It is sold at Mama Biscotti's Bakery in the Mediterranean's Harbour or at the food cart Infront of the S.S. Columbia. We went to the bakery outlet in the evening (towards the later part of the day) and they still had stocks for it! Phew!
