Thick, with an intense earthy hojicha taste and well-frothed milk, this is my favourite non-coffee drink on the Huggs menu.

An interesting mix of hojicha, lemon syrup and tonic water. The hojicha taste is strong and thick, and the bitterness is balanced by the sweetly tangy lemon syrup. The tonic water and ice complete the drink for a refreshing pick-me-up.

Such a pretty presentation with the dried rosebuds in it. I liked that I could taste the bitter earthy taste of the houjicha.

I was excited to see that unsweetened pure matcha was on the menu. But yucks. This is so astringent! Phoon Huat matcha powder tastes better (less astringent, less bitter, smoother), and at a fraction of the price. I suppose it would be palatable if I ordered it in matcha latte form, but then what would be the point of ordering supposedly premium matcha if you have to add milk to make it taste alright?

The biggest draw of Flash Coffee is the number of promotions it has with other platforms. I got this for $1 in an OCBC PayAnyone promotion. It’s a decent coffee that does the job.

Decent cup of americano that’s smooth enough and moderately strong. Prices are more reasonable than some of the neighbouring cafes.

Old Hen is more well known for its cold brews, but I liked this filter coffee too. I asked for something less acidic and they recommended this, which was smooth and pleasant.

My favourite cup of kopi/coffee is, strangely, Kopitiam’s kopi o kosong. It has this sweet and fragrant taste that you would never expect from kopi o kosong, that increases in intensity towards the bottom of the cup, and the last few dregs are the bottom are the tastiest. I’ve never tasted anything like it in other kopis.

They were featuring coffees from Myanmar, including this from Ga Naing Yar, a village in the mountains of Shan State where coffee is a source of income for the community to develop. I liked the presentation of the coffee, in a glass wrapped in a cloth, with a earthy stone cup to pour the coffee into. The coffee itself had fruity notes, and was comforting and smooth. This is a nice place to chill, and do work or read a book.

Not great. Rather bland, dilute and weak. I wouldn't come back again, especially not at this price.
