For me, I give up my Sunday mornings in bed for fluffy French toast, bacon and scrambled eggs. Simplicity is key and nobody does it better than Whisk and Paddle (@whiskandpaddlesg). Really.

Lobster thermistor, nasi lemak and even a kaiseki meal is all entirely possible when you're somewhere up in the sky.

These creations are inspired by their International Culinary Panel, and us offered in their Suites, First Class and Business Class. Because we took a morning flight, the choices were rather limited 😔 so we only had the Grilled Angus Burger and Fish Congee. The burger patty was slightly too dry, but I did like the fish congee. It was light and refreshing and it was pure comfort food 30000 feet up in the air.

This unassuming dish at at Tiong Bahru Market has captured the hearts of many locals and tourists for generations after generations. And I can see why.
.
The rice cake is firm and not mushy, the most important factor of a good chwee kueh. The preserved radish topping, or chye poh, isn't too salty. Every mouthful has a distinct taste of the shrimps and goes very well with the rice cake.
.
Although the business has expanded and you can find their chwee kueh in many malls, I still like to visit this humble outlet at Tiong Bahru Market and brave the queues. After all, this is where is first began.

Penny University (@pennyuniversity) serves up all-day brunch and I've been patronising them for quite sometime because it's quite a cosy little restaurant to just chill out and read a book. On this particular occasion, I had the Eggs Benedict with Smoked Salmon ($15) but sadly I wasn't too impressed with it. They are indeed generous with the serving of smoked salmon, but the poached eggs were overcooked and lacked the pinnacle of all poached eggs - a runny yolk.
.
Granted still, their full breakfast set ($16) has a good mixture of the essential breakfast items. And with the Entertainer app (@entertainersg), who can resist such 1-for-1 deals?

The Creamy Mushrooms on Sourdough with Scrambled Eggs ($14 + $3) is amazing. It was a beautiful, beautiful combination of creamy white sauce with sourdough, baked perfectly, and laced with a generous serving of grated parmesan. And the Low and Slow Pulled Pork ($20) was decadently flavourful. The pulled pork, slow braised for 18 hours, was so tender, that I could just eat it on its own. Now that's a winning combination for brunch right there.

Have you had your morning coffee fix? I love the coffee from Atlas Coffeehouse (@atlascoffeehouse) - crisp and bright. Where's your favourite coffee from? ☕

Yami yogurt's (@myyamiyogurt) peach yogurt has that tangy and refreshing taste has a much lighter consistency, good for those who want something that isn't as sweet as the other froyo chains. At $2.90 for a small serving, it really doesn't feel as guilty adding on other options like oreo crumbs or fresh strawberries.

🍝 Their fusilli with red and white sauce was pretty average though, nothing much to scream about. I may try their baked rice creations in the future. 🤔

Will it be
1️⃣ Double chocolate soft serve ice cream to soothe your dessert craving soul; or 🍫
2️⃣ Dark chocolate cake that is bitter, rich and extra indulgent? 🥧

My fickle-minded tummy has been nicely satisfied by both options at Chocolate Origin (@chocolateorigin). Will be back for the lava cake next, just wait for me. 🤗

Tsuta (@tsutasingapore) has been on my food radar for a long time and I was finally able to to remove this from my checklist after Tsuta opened its second Singapore outlet at Jewel Changi Airport (@jewelchangiairport).

The signature Shoyu Ramen ($15) was topped with truffle puree, and I'm not too sure if it's a gimmick or if it's similar to the original shop in Japan, but it pleasantly added a very subtle umami and earthy fragrance that perfumes throughout the broth, without overpowering the other ingredients. This delicate balance was nicely executed, and the overall taste was light and yet flavourful. If you're used to the stronger tonkotsu broth at other Ramen establishments (think Ichiran or Ippudo), you may find this an acquired taste at the start. But after a few mouthfuls, I began to fall in love with this and I'm sure you will too.
.
The noodles were also quite different from the Ramen at other shops. Here, it was really smooth, springy and yet firm. I wished I had ordefed an extra serving of the noodles (40g at $1) which can only be selected when you first place your order with the server. 🍜

So this is the obligatory shot that I took at Emack and Bolio's with my choice of one of the 35 flavours that they serve - s'moreos. And yes, this is not a very fanciful shot as compared to others that's popping up all over IG. Now, those shots don't come cheap - it's $7 for a single scoop of ice cream, with $2.50 extra for a chocolate cone and $4 extra for a marshmallow cone. I settled for the sugar cone with a topup of $1. 🍦
.
There was plenty of Oreo chunks in the ice cream, so in that way, I have to say that it is quite yummy at the first few bites, but eating the whole scoop by myself may be too dense and heavy for my liking. I do suspect that it's even much sweeter with their fanciful (but really really pretty) cones! Their ice cream is indeed highly Instagrammable, but I doubt that's enough a reason for me to splash out the money for it.
