Note this one down for cheat days. Open till midnight, this French patisserie in Outram Park is our new go-to for beautifully plated desserts. The signature to come for is 'Cynthia' ($9), a delicate dessert made with rose chantilly cream, lychee bits, raspberry compote and genoise sponge. If rose doesn't rock your boat, go for the Apple Mille Feuille ($14) — a tarty Granny Smith apple genoise, caramel creme and Tahitian vanilla ice cream combo.

In the short time that it's opened, Sora Boru has already garnered a following for their Snow Beef Don ($11.90). The beef bowl reminds us of the OG Yoshinoya one, packed with a little more oomph — the tender beef slices are topped with cheesy parmesan powder. Yum! For those who prefer seafood, try their customisable ChirashiBoru (from $6.50) that measures up to the quality of the ones at sister restaurant Kogane Yama.

Stellar Jap group Keisuke strikes again! Expect charcoal-grilled goodies at this new outlet, including several types of expertly marinated fish, all under $25. The smoky, moist Charcoal Grilled Dried Arms Mackerel Set ($14.90) gets our vote for best value for money. If you can splurge a little, go for their Miso Marinated Black Cod ($21.90) for delightfully smooth and flaky flesh that's worth every penny. Also good is the Grilled Chicken with Rock Salt ($9.90). Like in many other Keisuke outlets, there’s a heavenly free-flow salad bar here — get your fill of green tea soba, coffee jelly with cream and more!

Taiwanese-born Jenjudan joins the slew of brands feeding the boba craze — heat wave and all, we're not complaining! Fans are already raving over the chewy, caramelised boba pearls and the Brown Sugar Boba Fresh Milk Tea ($5.20), which the community is describing to be an even creamier version of the milk drink. More queue-worthy choices include their Brown Sugar Boba Matcha Green Tea ($5.50) and Earl Grey Tea Latte ($3.90).

When in Somerset, this spacious, white-walled coffeehouse is the spanking place to be for solid joe. The coffee's made with single origin Ethiopian beans, which results in a creamy, nuanced White ($5). Try also the Filter Coffee (from $7), such as a funky Ethiopian Jasper that sports floral, mildly fermented flavours. If you're feeling peckish, the cafe serves up cakes and pastries from Carpenter and Cook — go for the savoury Pine Nuts and Sundried Tomato ($5) that rocks beautiful, flaky pastry layers.

Keep this spot in mind when looking for post-workout fuel or a light bite. Stuffed with vegetables and baked oil-free, the Chinese flatbread is a delicious, healthyish snack — and cheap too, from $2 a pop. We recommend trying the Shanghai ($3), which is a triple whammy of their best flavours featuring pickled mustard leaves, preserved vegetables (mei cai) and mixed vegetables. For dessert, the Shandong ($2.20) sees sweet and creamy red bean paste. The flatbreads are best eaten while hot, lest it turns chewy!

From the folks behind The Naked Finn come a burger joint that doles out delicious buns in the West. Burppler Veronica Phua has nothing but praise for their off-the-menu “McEgg” that features a simple, crispy sunny side-up — fluffy on the outside and runny on the inside. Also a fast favourite, the Chicken Burger ($20) sees a chargrilled chicken leg, fried egg and homemade garlic yoghurt and tangy salsa sandwiched between two lightly buttered buns. And with great burgers, have a milkshake — the Madagascan Vanilla Milkshake ($7) is perfect for washing this meal down.

Bring your best mates for a covert foodie adventure! In the day, come for a kopitiam lunch in a swanky setting — the Noodle with Char Siew & Wanton ($5.50) holds its own with excellent homemade chilli. Come nightfall, head through the hidden passageway to find the vibrant 12-seater restobar for dinner and drinks. Start with the sweet, savoury Firecracker Chicken and Maple Fritters ($16), then share the indulgent Wagyu Truffle Beef Hor Fun ($68). For a fruity digestif, have the Old Fashion Twist ($22) that's a yummy concoction of cinammon, banana and rum.
