Dim sum

Easily one of my favourite and top picks at East Bistro is this Jin Deui, which is essentially like the fried sesame balls that you buy outside, just that it is HUGE and its actually hollow inside!

Was kind of sceptical because I usually adore the glutinous little round balls but I was actually so pleasantly surprised. The outer layer was crisp and fragrant, and despite its thinness, managed to be adequately chewy😍

Definitely must try this!

This was a tad too oily for my liking, with not only the custard fillings but also a substantial amount of oil oozing out as i bit into these deep fried golden balls.

Hence, when i heard about @dingtele , a shanghainese restaurant which specialises in these babies, i just had to pay them a visit 😝

The shengjian here was unfortunately a far cry from the ones i had in China but was still tasty and worth a try, especially if this is your first time having these buns!

Encased within these pan-fried buns were generous amounts of flavourful broth and minced meat. Perhaps if it was my first time having shengjian, i would have eaten it with greater delight 😅

🙂Their char siew bun is one of my favourite out of all the dim sum places i've been to! The sweet pork filling is so on point i can't get enough of it i always have to resist the temptation to order more ! 😢😝 Oh, haven't been to swee choon for quite awhile and apparently now they have an online ordering system whereby you scan a QR code and you will be taken to the ordering site! (Or has this system always been in place?😅) But fret not if you aren't exactly tech savvy because they do still allow you to order manually, just ask for the ordering chit! 😄
