My partner brought me here for our anniversary dinner, apparently there is a Crab in a Claypot buffet (1 for 1 promotion) going on. We are outraged that a restaurant under this large hotel chain have advertised falsely and are serving customers a Low quality substitute whilst continuing to promote.

1. There is no claypot; the lady named Suvin said that it is to minimise wastage, which we understand and applaud the restaurants’ efforts to save the environment.
2. Although it is advertised that mud crabs will be served, the crabs served are NOT MUD CRABS. I have called the restaurant during dinner to confirm that they are serving mud crabs, which they affirmed. The crabs served look like stone crabs or thunder crabs, characterised by their shell and black pincers. The taste and texture are also definitely off despite the fact that crabs are fresh. As we are experienced fishermen that have caught crabs before, we knew it immediately as these are crabs that we usually return to the ocean.

This post is to warn fellow diners who may not be aware of crab differences as stone crabs are of a much lower quality than mud crabs, and usually only the pincers are edible (restaurant served the entire crab).

After informing, the restaurants’ assistant manager Subhasis approached us to apologise and explained that it is due to post-Ramadan season, hence business is poor everywhere, and not only in their restaurant. That doesn’t mean that restaurants cut cost to the extent of lying to customers regarding the quality of seafood that they have promised.

We have included screenshots of the promotion that is still ongoing on the hotel’s website, photographs of the crabs that we have taken from the buffet table, as well as the crabs that are still being served in the pot.

Had this juicy and well-marinated steak ($9.90) that comes with spaghetti and buttered corn! Added on pork belly ($2.80) that is absolutely worth it; it is so well-executed that it practically melts in your mouth. A must-try!

Tried this today evening after work, perfectly grilled chicken chop with spaghetti and buttered corn ($7.90). Definitely worth the price and quality is excellent, much better than most restaurants too.
