Boozy Nights
Also this pithivier pie deserves another post on its own because it’s sooo good (but my photo is not focused 😭).The legs of the guinea fowl make their way into this dome-shaped pastry. Creamy, buttery and tasty!
The portion is massive, at least for 2 pax. Fowl is generally quite tough, so don’t expect something super tender like the andy’s fried chicken (on the menu). Yet, the flavour is what you should be after. It’s sweet, salty, smoky and peppery. Meat is generally moist as well. Do yourself a favour by squeezing some lemon to get some tangy kicks!
Sometimes while drinking wine, all you crave is a piece of good fried chicken. And this is here to deliver that. Crispy skin with not-too-thick batter doused in cayenne pepper and garlic. Love how moist and tender the drumstick is.
Super light and buttery vol-au-vent topped with scallop, prawn and ikura. Comes with thermidor sauce as well as gruyere cheese. Looks rich, but it’s actually not, in a good way. Wish I didn’t have to share this!
Beef tartare on toast with a twist. While the addition of scallop makes the tartare sweeter and slightly smoother, I think the genius add-on here is actually the cured egg yolk dipping. It helps add more creaminess and slight umami to the otherwise already great toast.
Lays but make it fancy. Love how the thinly sliced potato still retains its “chewy” texture. The dip on the side is way more addictive than Lays’ sour cream version— more garlicky, less jelat and more cheesy in flavour.
Decadent treat for an appetiser. It’s cold, rich and umami at the same time. Forget the fine dining etiquette and just grab and savour this goodness before all the foie gras shavings melt. The toasted brioche is slight warm and fluffy. Mindblowingly good and will defo order again when I’m back!
Topped with parmesan cheese, the mountain of fries came with a side of truffle mayo. Although nothing to shout about, it's still a great bar bite option. Went well with my IPA.
Spicy chicken chunks and cheese within layers of tortilla. Loved the spicy kicks that left me sweating. Filling could be more substantial for the price tag, but still pretty good.
Another dish that can't go wrong. Liked how the chicken chunks used weren't fatty and the skin remained crispy even after a while.
Macaroni was too soft for my liking and there was an overwhelming taste of truffle. Perhaps should do without the truffle oil because the paste did a good enough job. Wasn't a fan of the ham used either as everything became quite mushy in texture.
The eccentric hotdog shop looks out of place in Orchard Tower, especially with its striking neon interior. But glad to find a pretty awesome food (and even more awesome negroni here)! Possibly the best drink I’ve had in the last few years — their negroni kicked me hard but hell yeah it was so so good. The hotdog was not cheap, but was pretty solid with the loads of crispy fried shallots and pickles. The secret sauce tasted more like bbq, but it was a lovely pair to the sausage. Buns might be a little dry but the sauce saved the day!
