A very solid roast chicken rice shop. The rice was fragrant and not too oily. The chicken itself was quite juicy and plump but not greasy. Meat was tender including the white meat and the skin was flavoful though soggy because it was drenched in sauce
$6-10 ($10 pictured)

Newton food center has an abundance of good fried oyster Egg stalls and this is one of them. This stall also sells Satay so that's the easy way to distinguish it. Hup kee is the most famous and unique with its extremely crispy flour but I find this variation to be as good, just different. This stall uses ample fish sauce and very large fresh oysters from Korea which give the dish a great umami flavour. Good for people who like the oysters themself in this dish. Definitely worth trying!
$5.50 (With duck giblets added)

A very nice braised duck rice. The gravy is flavorful and they give a generous ammount of cilantro and cucumber to cut the heavy meat. The meat is also flavorful but could have been more tender. The chilli is very good, spicy and piquant. Overall, recommend.
$3 (only available for breakfast)

This is a nice and simple nasi Lemak done pretty well. The rice is nicely fragrant and the sambal is spicy and sweet with a nice balance. The great homemade ikan bilis and peanuts is what differentiates this. With an average fried chicken wing and fried egg, this is solid value for $3 in such a downtown location.
$7 (With 1 cold canned drink or bottled water)

Curry rice with pork chop and prawn paste chicken, comes with 3 sides of choice (pictured are achar, stewed cabbage and braised egg)

This was an enjoyable lunch box and I would highly recommend it. The price is a touch high but its a very central location near dhoby ghaut so it's to be expected. The portion of each item is generous and the quality of food is quite high. The pork cutlet is juicy and flavorful, the prawn paste chicken aromatic and crispy. The only things that were mediocre was the starchy rich and the egg which didn't have much flavor. Overall, a recommended lunch option.

Was recommended this place as a decent nasi Padang spot along orchard road. Have to say the food was quite good. However, for a small hole in the wall coffee shop, I feel the prices were a touch excessive. The breakdown of my $11 nasi Padang are as follows
4.5 for chicken
4 for mussels
1.5 for sambal goreng
1 for rice
The two meat items are very high IMO. The food was solid and id recommend the Assam gravy which was piquant and enjoyable. However, the steep prices prevent me from fully recommending it
$11.5

Served with some raw vegetables and a nice sweet and spicy black sauce with chilli. The chicken itself was quite good. The meat was flavorful and the skin was nicely crisped. However, the breast portion was a touch dry. Still quite good and goes well with their signature yellow rice.
$30 on the ala carte menu for lunch or dinner. A must order in my opinion!!!
The crab meat is fresh and delicate and the rich curry made with tumeric, ginger and kaffir lime is aromatic, rich and absolutely delicious with white rice. Very very yummy 😋

$14 for half a chicken. This great chain has good quality control and the chicken rice is consistently good across all their outlets. They also have very aromatic rice and a solid chilli sauce. Highly recommended.
