Bak Kut Teh
Oh this was good. Well seasoned and the beancurd skin was fried before being doused in the soy sauce. Not too soggy.
Nice for soaking up the soup. Could still retain its crispiness. I really liked their sauce counter. Especially the sesame sauce. Sooo good with rice and minced garlic. Add some soup and mix together. So yummy.
Was delighted to see that they were offering one for one pork ribs soup from Monday to Thursday for a limited time only. Ribs were tender thou not fatty. Not tough at all. Very nice. But soup could be hotter.
The fried dough fritters were good for soaking up the BKT soup. Soup was not too peppery so I liked it. The ribs were slightly fatty, so they were melt in the mouth tender. I really enjoyed them. Got 4 pcs inside. Loved the free flow garlic mash. Much stronger than the usual minced/chopped garlic, so could get really spicy. They also provided a pretty spicy chili sauce.
This was from the Bak Kut the stall. Beancurd skin was cut to bite sized pcs for convenient eating. Seasoned just right not too salty. I think these were fried before being immersed in the sauce. But soaked too long so it was no longer crispy.
Vege was very fresh and well seasoned. Liked the fried shallots on top.
This was on Burpple Beyond yay! I hardly have a chance to try Klang BKT so I was really excited. This came in all kinds of internal organs that you could request them not to add. Also got tofu puffs, pork belly and tail and of cos ribs. I asked for no tail and my companion ate all the organs for me. The soup was pleasantly herby and no pepper overdose. They replenished my broth a few times. But the last time it was on the thick side and tasted more strongly of herbs. Didn’t like that. Appreciated the free flow garlic, chili slices and black sauce on the side table in a corner.
Oh my these were super spicy! Not sure if the abundant chili seeds were the cause but I couldn’t take more than 2 mouthfuls. In the end I had to “shabu shabu” them in the BKT soup. My companion who is weak in spicy prowess took one bite and collapsed on the table wheezing. I had to eat this all by myself. But on the plus side, the meat was not too fatty and the marinate sauce was good.
These were fried and doused in braising sauce. I’ve tried other places that don’t fry these. I must say the fried version was so much more delicious. Still crispy so the texture was great.
This was lovely when dunked in the BKT soup. Absorbed the broth and yet still crispy. Yummy!
This was the hokkien version, not peppery at all. Soup was wonderful, a lovely meaty broth seasoned just right. Free flow garlic! Got ribs, pork belly slices and bean curd skin. Very my style.
Delighted to see that I could take as much minced garlic as I wanted. There were some mushrooms and bean curd skin inside the soup, with 2 short ribs and 3 slices of pork belly. The ribs were not tough and the pork belly slices were not fatty. Very nice. But the soup was sweet, which I didn’t like.
