Chinese Restaurants
The spiciness of the fish is gr8! All the fish taste the same to me though. Added sweet potato noodles and enoki mushroom which were gr8 tooooo.
Ordered a lot of dim sum at victor’s kitchen. First time trying the youtiao chee cheong fun and I like how crispy the youtiao was. The milk tea is rlly unique also cos they leave the ice outside the cup. But we were stu so we lifted the cup up at one point and couldn’t put in back inside the bowl of ice. The egg tart in the sunshine plaza outlet is slightly nicer though cos it was runnier. But yes love the food here!
Ordered the signature chicken, 3 eggs spinach, tomato egg and claypot tofu! Soup restaurant is always so delicious. I love the spinach and the tofu. The tofu here has a v nice starchy taste? The tomato egg has a really nice eggy taste too.
So, I was on Dayre one day and saw a Dayrean raving about the food in DBRJ and ofc I had to visit haha. From outside, the restaurant looks unassuming and I probably wouldn't take a second look at it if not for the recommendation.
We ordered a total of 6 dishes there, namely green bean glass noodles, salted egg pumpkin, pork and leek boiled dumplings, sweet and sour fish, tomato fried egg and fried beancurd skin strips. I must say, the food there was really nice and the price was pretty decent given the large portions. We spent $64 for the above 6 dishes with 3 bowls of rice and drinks for 5 people.
The nicest dishes to me were the green bean glass noodles and the sweet and sour fish. The glass noodles are much like the kind you can find in the Korean andong jimdak, and tasted really chewy and tasty. The cucumber and slight sourness of the dish was very appetising to me. Similarly, the sweet and sour fish tasted like tangsuyuk which I tried in Korea but even better?! I liked how it was soft and crispy. Special mention also goes to the fried beancurd skin which was surprisingly savoury and soupish.
In all, I utterly enjoyed my meal :) but oh ya, the restaurant was a little noisy and do make a reservation before going down too.
Had fried beehoon, chicken cooked in red wine, steamed yellow grouper, spinach with egg white and fried battered prawns at putien yesterday. The total bill came up to $98 for 4 including drinks. The beehoon and prawns were really good and went very well together with putien's chilli sauce which I absolutely love. On the other hand the fish had a little too many bones for my liking, the chicken wasn't really to my taste and the spinach was a little bitter for me. But I think is cos of my personal taste and not cos the dishes weren't cooked well. Heheh anyway, it was a really nice and healthy tasting meal!
