This was my first visit to Kakure although I had been to its sister restaurants @kishosg and @buonaterrasg numerous times. My expectations were high as I would rank them amongst my favourite restaurants in Singapore. Yet Kakure exceeded my expectations. I love it when a sake bar serves amazing food as well. More on that later.

According to Masanao-san @erefant, this is one of his favourite producers and only 50 bottles of the Sugiura Special are produced a year. I loved the elegance and body in this sake.

It has an amazing collection of sake at reasonable prices. Not that I am an expert but it has the nod of sake experts such as @abbeycmh and @sakeambrosia. I just know that they taste really good 😂.

I am even more fascinated by the variety of sake glasses. @erefant kindly used different ones from our previous visit. This particular set had such a striking beautiful turquoise colour.

Pisco sour. With pisco as a base liquor, fresh lime juice and sugar syrup were added to create the sour yet sweet taste. Topped with egg white for texture.

What is pisco? A unique brandy produced in Chile and Peru.

Chilcano. Also with pisco as the base spirit, ginger ale and lime juice were added to give it a refreshing and fizzy twist.

I am not sure whether Angostura Bitters were added but they usually provide aroma and flavour to the cocktails.

Both cocktails were very refreshing. In fact, they were so easy to drink that you could drink too many too quickly 😱.

Jikon Junmai Ginjo from Mie prefecture (bottle at the bottom right). A light and elegant sake to begin our meal with.

Densyu Junmai Daiginjo Tobindori. Bolder and more body. Loved it 😍!

Hatsumago Daiginjo Tobindori 15 years. Now this was bold yet elegant with a nice depth and structure. My favourite of the night.

The Dassai 23 Junmai Daiginjo needs no introduction. It was very smooth and elegant.

Next up was the Raifuku Junmai Daiginjo from Ibaraki prefecture, which was my favourite of the night. Made with Hitachi Nishiki rice and polished until 8%. It was elegant yet bold 😋😋😋.

The last sake tasted more like dessert wine. Tamagawa 'Time Machine' Junmai Kimoto. It had a musky, sweet taste. First ever tasting a sweet sake.

Spiced ketel one vodka with lobster tomato juice and lobster tail. This is definitely one for lobster lovers. You can really taste the savoury lobster flavour in the cocktail.

When asked what his favourite cocktail was, @fongjoe1219 replied 'negroni'. Naturally, we (meaning @sk_food_and_travel) had to try the negroni. It was really good - aromatic and smoky. We were told that the secret was Fernet-Branca, an Italian herbal liqueur, and smoked cinnamon. An interesting twist to an old classic.

After dinner, @fongjoe1219 introduced @sk_food_and_travel to what he called 'Three Way', a cocktail of bourbon,scotch and rum. Now that was a perfect way to end dinner 😋.
