Matcha Matcha 💚

Five flavours to choose from: Custard, Fresh Cream, Azuki, Matcha and Chocolate. Soft pillowy bun lavishly filled with fresh cold cream, all painstakingly handmade.

Tried both Matcha and Azuki though I prefer the latter. Felt Matcha was too creamy then bitter and wish for a stronger matcha flavour. But Azuki one, made of smooth custard with bits of red bean from Hokkaido is much pleasurable. Do note they have a short shelf life of only 2 days!

Premium Gyomuyo matcha custard with a thin layer of Croquant. Breaking into it, you'll find generous matcha custard flowing out but it's a tad too sweet for my liking. While these are good, will probably stick to my cream puffs from Dulcet & Studio instead.

What more to enjoy in a rainy day than a cup of coffee and some sweet cake? The place itself is like a garden with plants and flowers! Ordered the matcha lava cake and i was even able to match it with an ice cream of my choice! Accompanied of course with my cafe mocha. Definitely a treat!

The soft cream – dusted with a classily mature matcha bitterness – has the smothering intensity of a high-end Tempur pillow, and it collaborates harmoniously with the matcha syrup to bring the grainy and wheatily healthy pancakes past the gates of green tea flavour, a feat that has proved challenging to many high-profile others. 3.8/5

P.S. Definitely ask for a switch to matcha ice cream instead of vanilla.

Houjicha x Nama Choco Softserve ($6.90)

Trying the Nama Choco Softserve from @matchayasg for the first time and was again so pleased with it. Opting to go for a denser soft serve, the owners ensured that the end product is a rich and lusciously thick dark chocolate soft serve that goes well with the roasted green tea aka Houjicha👌🏼. Once again excited with this week's offering of Kuri/chestnut parfait! Can't wait to try it! Life's a bliss when one works so near Matchaya ☺️!

Cannot take photo for too long because we have to eat it piping hot!!!! Hot and crispy pancake served with thick and rich sweet potato puree and matcha sauce. All these top with vanilla ice cream. That combination of hot and cold, sweet and savoury! 😍 It was so worth the 1 hour wait!!

Initially ordered the matcha pancake but they were out of sweet potato. Got this instead. Surprisingly good. Imagine bitter-sweet thick lava oozing out from the cake which each of the first scoops. Paired with chocolate drizzled across the plate. Matcha lava cake can't get any better than this. Delicious bit of dessert. Share the food, share the calories!

Food, coffee, ambience, service everything is good here. Sometimes I am really sick of the usual cafe food - eggs Ben and more eggs Ben but at least this place served a variety of breakfast options!

Having lots of matcha items lately and the most sinful as of yet is Paddy Hills’ over-the-top, Mount Matcha. Complete with a crown of cotton candy, the tall glass is filled with smooth, creamy rich and totally matcha-li-cious milkshake as well as a big scoop of vanilla ice cream. Sending me to a sugary cloud nine, the addition of cereals in the concoction gave a good crunch and made it less cloying. But you can make things more decadent with the matcha syrup served together. Not as sweet as expected, the touch of bitterness is enjoyable though best to add it bit by bit.

My advice - bring forth your inner kid with this dessert drink and don’t care erm... too much about the calories. And Mount Matcha aside, Paddy Hills also offers a selection of interesting beverages for the eyes to feast on.
