Porky π·
Not the best of course, but at S$18 I'm not complaining. There's a lot of meat for the price, and the skin's got a good crisp. Only thing is the meat was dry, and certain parts had a strong porky taste. The accompanying chili made everything better though so no problems with that.
Fans of Neil Road's Jing Hua Xiao Chi can get their homemade dumplings, zha jiang noodles and crispy red bean pancake fix at this outlet along Bugis Village, with a shorter waiting time too. No matter what dishes you're eyeing, be sure to start with an order of their signature Pan Fried Pork and Seafood Dumplings ($8 for 10 pieces). It's the star attraction for Burpple Tastemaker Sheryl Lyx β crispy skin stuffed with a generous filling of chives and minced pork that "breaks apart to release a good amount of porky essence (think XLB soup within the dumpling)". Apart from dumplings, the Chinese Pizza ($11) packed with well-seasoned minced meat and wrapped in a crispy yet crumbly crust is great for sharing in a group. End your meal on a sweet note with their signature dessert β Crispy Red Bean Pancake ($10). It's crispy on the outside, mochi-like in the middle and packed with sweet red bean filling.

This restaurant has been a mainstay along East Coast road, but it has also been quite forgotten amidst the flurry of new openings along the same stretch. Warm, savoury and comforting, i'm so glad this is readily available in the east.
There is some hae bi hiam (spicy fried shrimp sambal) in the mix, but the scene stealer is really the copious bits of bacon (not the crisp kind). If you're in the mood for a mildly spicy and savoury pasta, this should be one of the top considerations. I like the addition of mushrooms to offset the overall meatiness of the dish, they were quite crunchy too! The standard isn't any different from when they were the popular Sebastian Mix Fusion at the Everton coffeeshop, now settled in a cozy and colourful diner just few metres away.
This humble stall in the basement of Golden Mile Food Centre dishes out authentic Peranakan food at very affordable prices. Chef-owner Charlie is no stranger to the food scene, having set up his previous restaurant along East Coast Road eight years ago. For maximum satisfaction, bring a small group of friends so you can try more dishes. We especially love the Ayam Buah Keluak ($7) β Charlie's rendition sees a generous amount of buah keluak flesh scraped out from its nut, mixed with minced pork before being stuffed back into the shell. It's also used in the gravy, which helps to make it thicker and richer. Share the tender Beef Rendang ($7), Chap Chye ($2) and the Lok Kai Yik ($20), a Cantonese dish of stewed chicken wings, pork innards and taupok that we hardly see on menus nowadays. Its distinct pink yummy broth comes from long hours of stewing the dish with fermented red yam. So comforting!

$5 shiokness. inhouse made noodles and perfectly executed pork lard was a delight. the sauceless was compensated by the smooth oiliness that aint heavy after the tossing in the bowl. especially love the last few mouthful when the remnants individual components all come together on the spoon! to spice things very up, throw in the dried chilli powder or like me, dash in bit by bit like gu niang like that for what i call a "progressive spiciness". pork lard today, so yes is a happy midweek. haha
The homemade noodles were good - firm, having a good bite and taste. Plus, it looks really wavy and pretty. I liked the addition of fried shallot and pork lard, a must have in any local noodle dish. The braised pork was well spiced, tender and the fats melt in your mouth. Very slow cooker home cooked feel to it. I loved the huge piece of fried wanton skin! The turnip soup that comes with this was peppery and good! Although I was put off initially by the price of $12.90 nett, overall, I thought this was a rather well thought out and executed dish that justifies the price. Definitely will return to try other stuff!

Perfect for cheese lovers!!! π
Pork ribs wrapped in melted mozzarella cheese. Can you say CHEESUS?? π
Love the small sides as well! Cream pasta, steamed egg, corn & soft boiled potatoes! The set comes with free flow of side dishes (not featured in picture) as well!
Sharing this with family or a group of friends would be perfect ππΌ Will definitely come back again!!
Ambience was super korean-ish with Kpop MVs blasting on teevee and pictures of Korean idols hanging on a wall!
I wish I could have this for dinner right now.
OMG.
Is this the new trend now! Sweet spicy short ribs coated with a layer of golden melting cheese goodness. The ribs were well marinated to the core and detaches easily from the bone. Meat were tenderly soft. Accompanying were steam egg, chips with salsa, salad and minced meat that goes really well with a jug of watermelon soju cocktail. The cheese ribs were the star for the night, simply daebak!
Flavours were there especially the Apple coleslaw pairing with the pork - refreshing and flavourful.
Love the mix assortment of fries with potato, sweet potatoes and purple potato!

It's damn tough deciding on the winner between these two dishes by @ChefShenTan that are available only at @RevolutionCoffeeSg.
Team BKP (Buah Keluak Pasta) will argue that the buah keluak paste coating the al dente ribbons of tagliatelle has a rich earthiness that can kick the ass of all other flavourings. Furthermore, the dish possesses a stealthy but potent spiciness from chilli padi and boasts big, thick slices of superbly tender twice-cooked pork belly, minced prawns and pork.
Team BCMP (Bak Chor Mee Pasta), however, will counter that the this creation of Chef Shen captures the essence of a classic hawker dish and ups the ante with its modern interpretation and chunks of five-spice pork confit.
You'd think the price would be the tie-breaker but nope, they are each priced at $19.90 nett. And both have bits of crispy pork lard!
But I know which team I support. Do you? π
