Teochew porridge is just perfect for the days when I’m craving some home-cooked Chinese flavours. Been overseas for the past one week so I’ve been missing food like this. My favourites here are the Otah, Fried Egg and Chap Chye (not pictured here). I’m personally not a fan of duck but try out the Braised Duck too, that’s good here too!

This is the first time I'm hearing about Soup Restaurant branching out to serve 点心 with this Teahouse concept. Soup Restaurant is one of my favourite trusted Chinese restaurant so I had high expectations. For 点心, I'd recommend what we ordered: the Har Gaw had a generous portion of prawns, the Char Siew Sou had a light pastry although on the oily side, and the soft and fluffy Mushroom Bao resembling a giant Shiitake was interesting to look at and had a pretty tasty filling too. The shrimp dumpling noodles were just meh imo, I'd skip that and go straight for the other Dim Sum on the menu. 😋

Ventured out looking for good fish soup and found ourselves here upon recommendation. Located within NUS Alumni is this quiet Chinese restaurant that was awarded 1 star in the 2016 Michellin BIB Guide. We ordered a veggie, tofu bowl and a bowl of sliced fish soup noodles to share. The dishes, I'd skip and just go for their famed fish soup which had a really rich, creamy and flavourful broth and the slices of fresh sang yu (snakehead fish). It was good but I think a portion for 2 to share is just nice as the broth is pretty rich. Nevertheless, 2 thumbs-up for good service and quiet ambience on a Friday night!

Today was one of the very rare times I find myself in Changi Village, and felt like having Dim Sum for Sunday's brunch so tried out Le Xuan based on online reviews. Overall, it was ok: decent selections, value for money prices and taste-wise acceptable but nothing wow-ing. I'd probably recommend the crispy char siew buns and hakka yong tau foo.

Reunion dinner @ 老北京食堂, our usual place with my extended family a week before CNY. My favourite dish of the 10 course set dinner has to be this dish: Tangy broth filled with braised wongbok, beancurd, mushrooms, black fungus and tomatoes. And the grilled fish was excellent; succulent meat and crispy skin.😍 Of course, always look forward to their star dishes: 小笼包,北京烤鸭,and I personally like their broccoli scallops and prawns dish (the seafood is really fresh 👍🏻)!

1. 麻辣 2. 番茄 3. 酸菜 4. 鸡汤 Normally not a fan of hot pots but I'll make an exception for this becos I love the showmanship by the 拉面 guy with the 'pulling' and twirling and all. Oh I'm a huge sauce fan so the huge sauce selection is pretty impressive as well. But apart from these and the extra services you get (manicures, baby-sitting, hot hand towels), you're pretty much paying the above-average price for the branding, ambience and customer service.

Rainy cold weather yesterday saw us craving something hot and soupy. BKT set lunch which comes with pork ribs soup (waitress will walk around with pots to refill your soup!), a side dish, a bowl of rice and a barley drink. There was a pretty long but rather fast-moving queue when we reached, so I guess this place's one of the popular places in the Fusionopolis area!

Firstly, the name of this shop is too cute. And secondly, anything truffle is basically awesome. 😚 The handmade msg-free egg noodles is springy and dosed in a good amount of truffle oil, served with sliced shitake mushrooms and veggie. And of course, mixing the runny soft-boiled egg with the noodles is incredibly satisfying. 😍 Located in a quiet corner in Shaw Center with seemingly little human traffic, I'm not sure what the crowd is like at peak timings. But this is probably one of the places I'd bring friends over for relatively cheaper food in the Orchard area!

Good ol dim sum at tea time after my convocation ceremony with fambam. 🎓🤗 My must-orders are the Steamed Carrot Cake, Liu Sha Bao, Fish Roe Siew Mai and Beancurd Roll in Superior Sauce.
