My kind of comfort food, When it's gloomy and it's a Monday. Your brain is just lazy to think of what or where to eat.
•
However, the Szechuan dishes did not do any justice. It was not spicy and the wanton skin fall off too quickly. Everything still falls back to the dumpling noodles, as the meat fillings were savoury and with the soup. It just warms you up.
•
Overall, this shop still served comforting and value for money dishes thus making me to try everything on their menu.

Well... I am a poor boy so there is still a Long way to go for me before I try Michelin star restaurants. But luckily there is the bid gourmet stores too! It took me quite sometime before I get to try this laksa because it always close early!
•
If you are wondering why does it take so Long, it's because the Chef cooks the noodle and the gravy together and not separately. The Claypot is used as a heat source to constantly cooked the laksa, thus allowing the gravy to be infused into the noodles.
•
The laksa spiciness is moderate and the gravy covers the noodle equally. However the gravy was lacking in flavour, if there was more coconut milk added in or more dried shrimp is added. This dish would be prefect! For now, Sungei Road Laksa is still my no.1 place to satisfy my laksa craving.

Shanghai Xiao Long Bao have been planting itself into the Singapore food scene. You can find them in restaurants (DTF) or at hawker center. There is one particular store that me and XBC frequently visit.
•
They are popular for their XLB, It has a good meat to skin ratio and the skin is not too thin until it will break if you lift it up. The broth was towards the sweet side, however, it was too sweet for our liking.
•
What we both love about this store is their steam dumpling. The meat to skin ratio was just nice. The skin is a little thicker than their XLB, but their meat tastes flavourful and tender. It has become a norm for us to order if we are there.
•
Overall, all their dumplings and XLB are handmade. You can even order a whole packet, from them if you have a party. Perhaps next time I will give their XLB a try again.

When you have no idea what you want to eat but still want to eat something special. The potato and broccoli was a interesting one, the surface is crispy but the inside is soft. The broccoli adds a chewy texture but does not overpower the taste of the cheese.
