Hawker Fare

Hawker Fare

It is a tradition for local Singaporeans to eat in hawker centres due to the affordability and type of food they serve. Foreigns come to Singapore and will always try the local food. I don't want this tradition to end and I bring to you various foods from hawker centres.

Bought this coffee pau at 70 cents from this food court at Ngee Ann Polytechnic. They got it from a supplier, Lim Kee. While I have not tried coffee pau before because it is seldom readily available in hawker centres or food courts, I found it to be rather unique because of a tinge of coffee taste in the pau. However, what the pau was lacking was the moisture in it making it very dry. Disappointed by it and it is a waste of money, there are many other paus that are much better in Ngee Ann Polytechnic.

$0.50 per piece. Extremely big. Usually siew mais in other hawker centres tend to be very small and not fulfilling, however, the one at Makan Place was an exception. It was huge and very tasty, certainly one that had flavour and seasoning to it! Would recommend especially if you are a dim sum lover. Affordable and nice!

$0.70. Extremely cheap and worth it considering the generous amounts of red bean fillings. It was not only good but also sweet, which is what a red bean pau should have been. I would have hoped for the pau to be bigger so that it is more satisfying and that the dough used could be softer. Personally one of the better paus in Ngee Ann Polytechnic!

Bought this from one of the stores which sell carrot cake. $0.70 for the pau and it was really worth it, however, I was disappointed by the amount of fillings in this sweet corn pau, mainly because there wasn't enough and I felt as though I was eating more of the skin of the pau rather than the actual sweet corn. Cannot really complain much because of the affordability of it.

Kong Guan Pau. I think that it is rather affordable and not on the pricier side. The yam filling was good because there was a faint hint of sweetness in the pau. However, the only disappointing thing was that the pau was not as hard as I would have liked it to be, which would have made it more satisfying to eat. Still something nice and recommended!! Also can be gotten easily from most coffee shops.

Very tasty but I felt that it was too oily. The kang kong was made nice by the oyster sauce and garlic.

I think it was $3.50-$4. Very affordable. However, I felt that the dish was a little too oily. The wanton was one of the biggest that I have seen, which was good. Too much pork in it sadly. The spinach noodles tasted disgusting and wasn't a joy to eat. Wouldn't go back to this place to eat because of the heat and smell.

Tried a little bit of this because my dad ordered it. Did not feel that there was anything special with it.

$2.80. Finally had the opportunity to try at this hawker centre run by Fei Siong which promotes entrepreneurship among young hawkers. The price of this dish was affordable considering it is at a hawker centre. The mee hoon kueh was very special and certainly something I have not tasted before! But the auntie at this store was really grumpy that day and kept chiding me. Wouldn't go back to this store because of the poor customer experience. #thebreadlovereats #thebreadlover #thebreadloverlunch #thebreadloverfood #thebreadloverexplore
