This vegetarian café called Sauté is on the 2nd level next to the yong tau foo stall. We ordered the Buttermilk Waffle with a scoop of their signature Salted Caramel Almonds ice cream for $7.50. How reasonably priced is that? The waffle is slightly more dense than some airier waffles which I've had but it was still crisp outside and fluffy inside. Ice cream was creamy and the salted caramel flavor was well balanced. Will be back to try their other dishes.
Jalapeno Mac & Cheese Waffle @ $13.80+. There wasn't a hint of spiciness despite the name while some heat would have given punch to the dish. Expected gooey cheese within the waffle but in place was powdered cheddar cheese. Also preferred the tomato relish to be more tart than sweet for some zest. DESPITE the above, the waffle was so light and crispy, and the mac within was springy. The truffle oil was also prominent. The dish satisfied my waffles craving without being too heavy and I might order it again with adjusted expectation. Their Southern Fried Chicken Waffle is my top favorite savory waffle; I haven't tried their sweet waffles yet!
The D'or Charcoal at $12 nett was quite fluffy on the inside; yummy and pretty enough to satisfy my waffles craving :)
