Leaving Mr Baguette without trying their lava baguettes ($1.80) is simply a no-no. Just looking at these baguettes will get you salivating. This humble little stall in Golden Mile Food Centre offers both sweet and savoury baguettes, so you're not going to miss out if you don't have a sweet tooth. Imagine biting into a mini hot, crusty baguette, and having a copious amount of luscious molten chocolate or red velvet filling flow out β oh so irresistible. They're rather innovative here; flavours include cheese, tiramisu and cookies and cream. These little babies can be brought home and reheated as well, so you can enjoy them from the comfort of your home. ;)
Extremely crispy on the exterior and soft within, damn take my moneh π
I swear I only ordered the Teys Riverine ribeye. But then, out walked Chef Shaun bearing this massive wooden board. On it was not just my steak and my friend's order of an AACo ribeye but a complimentary piece of Black Angus too; each weighing in at 200gms. Lined up along one side of the board was an eye-popping myriad of condiments that included a new truffle paste, The Betterfield's signature truffled mayo and assorted salts of the exotic type. As per his usual style, Chef Shaun briskly did his "fire-blasting" final touch to the meats at the table. After that, there was no stopping our attack.
I was really happy to have had this opportunity to taste all three types of beef at one go. It was a great way to learn how to tell the subtle differences between each kind and also to discover my favourite. As it turns out, the Black Angus with its pronounced "beefy" flavour appealed the most to me. Coming in at second place was the Teys Riverine and finally, the AACo. The reason I ranked the latter last is because it was the mildest tasting in my opinion. Which means it would suit those of you who don't like meats with a strong flavour. Having said that, I must declare their differences were minute and only by alternating between bites of each beef could I discern them, and even then, it took a lot of concentration. Interestingly, my friend had a different opinion. He ranked the Teys Riverine as number one, followed by the AACo and then, the Black Angus. It just goes to show how we all have different tastes! π
FYI: The Betterfield will be moving out of their present location around the middle of April. So if you want to savour some seriously good value steaks, or dig into one of their fabulous risottos, do make time to go very soon.
Their Set Lunch (opening special at $13) includes a main, side and a drink. Had the Beef Pho, Lemongrass Pork Banh Mi with fish cakes and their fresh rolls. Pretty decent I would say, flavourful broth and melt in mouth pork!
Incidentally, my first Banh Mi, pretty good I feel, would try more next time!
Visited Curious Palette with the colleagues today and chilled over some cakes, waffles and this delicious fluffy Berry Ricotta Hotcake. Can't go wrong if you order thisβ¦ well hasn't gone wrong the last 2 times I've had this. π

The stellar dishes at Char that got my mummy nodding her head in approval. The platter of 3 ($32) with Char's mad famous char siew, crackling pork belly and decent roasted duck. The family loves the tenderness of the char siew, with almost same parts of fats and meat, making it almost too guilty to have and too guilty to not have. I particularly liked the cracking pork belly which comes with a golden crispy skin. A less known but stellar dish would be the beef hor fun ($12). Every mouthful was filled with wok hei, what's not to like really? Thanks Raine for reminding me about the Hawkerpedia vouchers, I managed to bring my parents out for a good meal for a nominal fee.
Delicious! The foie gras and the beef goes well together, blending well with the onsen egg. Oh well, this dish mixes three ingredients I love in a tasty explosion, so I must recommend!
The serving was really generous given the price tag of $20 - this staple brunch item was really really goooood! Not to mention how protein packed it is! It deserves a re-visit with the same order!! The kale was super light and crisp!! I can't help myself shoving mouthfuls after mouthfuls of it!
I was in for a treat at this little eatery tucked at the side of Shaw Foundation Alumni House in NUS. Featured here is their Wagyu Don ($17.90) that has loads of succulent beef, sous vide egg & topped with juicy ikura & salted veg that complements every mouthful of rice. For it's price tag, it's definitely worth it.
Good thing if you're from NUS as you'd get a 10% off! Too bad I was a tad late & couldn't get my hands on the Chirashi Don π
Salmon soba noodles ($17) sounds deceptively simple, yet made outstanding in the hands of the amazing chefs at @atlascoffeehouse! The noodles were tossed with an addictive sauce, and the dish was infused with Japanese flavours that tasted light, yet oh-so-delicious. #burpple #cafehoppingsg #foodspotting #foodporn #foodstamping
