The atmosphere inside is REALLY warm after it fills up with guests & especially if you're drinking soup like I was. Really regretted not bringing my hairtie with me to tie my hair up 😕

I was perspiring so much & was so uncomfortable to a point where I immediately raised my hand to call for the bill once I finished my food. I guess that helps them with quicker turnover of customers 😂 What's posted here was when I got seated - when I left, they were full-house.

The Ebi Taigamori ($18++) was... Okay.

It was enjoyable on first slurp, but after a while, the double-boiled Katsuo Soup felt very one-dimensional & salty. The tempura batter is quite thick & oily, but the prawns inside were plump & good.

I somewhat liked the chewy texture of the udon, but I didn't find it particularly mind-blowing.

Maybe the other dishes are more unique & impressive... The menu is pretty varied with several types of Udon & cooking styles. I would consider trying them if I come back.

I actually returned to Woke Ramen a few weeks later when I caught another flight out of Changi Airport. Just because I was specifically craving their ramen & broth.

Tried a different dish this time - Woke's Prawn Paste Ramen ($14.90++). The broth & fixin's were the same as the Tiger Prawn Ramen's: A ramen egg, crunchy black fungus, sliced cabbage & spring onions. I reckon they should be pretty standard across the prawn broth bowls...

The prawn paste balls are great; tasty & with a firm bite to them. Technically, they're more fuss-free than prawns, as no peeling of shells is required.

Do I have a preference between prawn paste/balls & tiger prawns? Not really, if I gotta be honest. I liked them pretty equally. 👍🏻

Damn. This Tiger Prawn Ramen ($14.90++) SLAPS. 2 fresh tiger prawns that you have to deshell on your own, but the shells come off easily. Plenty of other ingredients fill up the bowl as well - a ramen egg, crunchy black fungus, sliced cabbage & spring onions.

Their specialty ramen noodles are silky smooth, & have a lovely bounce to them. I was particularly impressed by the prawn broth on first sip; when they say wok hei, they mean it. It was there.

The amount of broth they give is generous, too. It actually submerges almost everything in the large bowl; not like what is pictured in the menu. For pictorial purposes (i.e. in the menu) - showing less broth so the ingredients are visible? I get it.

Ultimately, I’m pretty darn happy - for how delicious & substantial this bowl of prawn ramen was. Would recommend & would return!

I reckon it’s pretty out of the way for most, being located at Changi Airport… (Not me, when I visited, as I was catching a flight.) But I do feel this is something I’d make the journey for.

Well I was gonna do it anyway, so I showed the waiter my Instagram Story with @wokeramensg tagged…. Then he told me I have to wait.

.. For what, though?

Apparently, the content posted needs to be of the ramen itself. & that's not stated here in the promotion mechanics 😂 So what I'd posted about their premises/brand (since I was waiting for my ramen to be served) didn't qualify.

I gave him feedback, & also DM-ed Woke Ramen about how it's probably in their best interests to clearly state this in their little standee. Not sure if that has changed (this post is belated; somehow it slipped through the cracks), but looking at others' photos.... It might not have. Haha.

I don't actually have an issue with the T&Cs, but I do think about the poor staff who have to keep explaining this invisible fine print. Common sense would mean just spelling it out here clearly, so it's unambiguous for all.

Rice bowls are available from 11AM until sold out. Here's the Grilled Yakitori ($8.00+) one, which is quite a simple donburi.

While I liked the chunky pieces of juicy chicken (even though they still had their skins on), I didn't find anything too special about this. It got the job done of filling up my stomach.

At the end of your meal at Enishi, you can request for a "mini bowl rice" at the end of your meal (at no charge), but say real one ok the mini portion is actually quite maxi....

Was stuffed by the end of it, but great way to soak up all the sauce. 😍

The only other option on Enishi's food menu is the Japanese Dashi Noodle, customizable in terms of quantity of ingredients. I opted for the Basic ($18.80+) version, which comes with 1 slice of char siew & 2 slices of duck meat. I wanted to try the baseline offering, so I didn't go for any of the add-ons: Chilli oil topping (add $2+) / rich broth (add $1+).

On hindsight, I should've gone for the Regular ($19.80+) at just a dollar more, which is the Basic with an ajitama (ramen egg). In my haste, I hadn't noticed this. I love egg 🥺

The ramen noodles are thicker than the usual ones I'm used to, but that's not a bad thing. They were cooked nicely to still retain a big of spring with each bite.

It was a cold, rainy day - & that's why I went for this option with a comforting bowl of soup. The dashi broth is clear & slightly sweet.. While I don't consider it mind-blowing, I do prefer this lightness in flavour compared to the heavier broth types (e.g. tonkotsu or miso).

Unfortunately, the char siu was a bit dry & tough. I didn't enjoy it that much. The duck meat slices fared better, being more tender & I liked how I could peel off the fat/skin easily (don't judge me) (or do).

Overall, this was a decent dish, & great for rainy weather.. But I don't see myself craving for this like I do their Dan Dan Noodles.

The Dan-dan Noodles ($19.80+) are served with ontama (onsen egg) & a bowl of dashi soup on the side. You can mix up the sauce first, then choose to mix in the ontama or dashi soup to adjust to your taste preference.

You can also choose from 3 types of vinegars on the countertop - orange/kelp/chilli vinegar. I picked the orange vinegar & mixed it in. Gave it a nice citrus accent to the acidity of the vinegar. I appreciated this midway in my meal to cut through the richness of the sauce.

Mixing everything together in my bowl of Dan-dan Noodles ($19.80+), I gasped with joy upon finding out HOW MUCH NOODLES THERE ARE underneath this plethora of ingredients. The super rich sauce ties also everything together in a nice warm hug... Take me to flavourtown, man.

When you order, you can customize the spicyness level: Zero/medium hot/very hot. I chose the middle option; for someone who doesn't eat spicy food often, this was the right level of heat for me.

A smile crept across my face as this colourful bowl of Dan-dan Noodles ($19.80+) was placed in front of me. SO MANY INGREDIENTS - I am pleased. Shredded chashu, minced pork, diced & fried white onions, pickles & mizuna. Each bite had something different to offer.

I've read some reviews that say this was "good, but nothing special". To each his own, of course, but I found myself craving this subsequently & wanting to pay a re-visit.. & I eventually did. Great flavours, variety of ingredients, & super filling.

Enishi's opening hours are 11AM-3PM, 6-9PM daily; their official website says they're closed on Sunday, but that was actually when I dined there for lunch. I could get seated immediately at ~12:30PM, but by 1PM they were full as some pairs/groups came by.

This was a little different from last year (albeit that was on a Saturday), when I had to wait in line to get in even at an odd timing of 2PM - was just a 10-minute wait as a solo diner, though. Nothing too terrible.

I can only imagine how packed this place gets, as there are only 10 dine-in seats. Not sure if the lines still snake around the corners on weekdays from the office crowd... Does anyone know?
