Everton Creamery, the newest entry in the buzzy Everton Park neighbourhood, serves a variety of gelatos to help you beat the ever-present Singapore heat. The more popular flavours include Banana Walnut, Mango Pineapple and Nocciolone (Hazelnut), but we say go for their Matcha — which uses pumpkin seeds for a truly unique crunch factor — or their unbelievably nutty Pistachio.

Situated within Burlington Square, Yoğart is the newest kid on the yogurt block. Instead of just offering the usual yogurt with various sauces and toppings, this place offers yoghurt popsicles & waffles as well. Go for their Yuzu Explosion yogurt popsicle, or satisfy your Llao Llao cravings with the Sanum-esque Yogurt Bliss ($6.20) — yogurt with 3 fresh fruits toppings, 1 crunch and 1 sauce. Best to get your yogurt to go, as Yoğart has limited seating!

Carpenter and Cook needs no introduction. Boasting excellently executed pastries, it is not hard to see why they are a solid establishment in the F&B scene. There are so many good pastries to choose from, but what you should try are the Passionfruit Meringue Tart ($6.50), Quiche ($7), Savoury Brioche ($6.50) and Croissants (from $2.50) (heh, still a lot). The passionfruit tart has just the right amount of tanginess, complemented by the slight sweetness of the meringue, and the tart shell is perfectly crunchy. They also do one of the best quiches in town: it is eggy and custardy without being overly rich, and has a buttery, flaky crust. Furnished with quaint vintage items from around the world, this space is very welcoming for spending an afternoon at!

Opening along Bukit Pasoh Road, Boca serves authentic Portugese fare in a warm, stylish setting. Be welcomed into the three-storey shophouse by flights of Andorinha (swallows) which commemorate the spirit of returning home, and make yourself comfrotable in this stylish, warm space. Order the Prato de Salgadinhos Mistos, which is their platter of petiscos (the Portugese equivalent of tapas) and go for the super-comforting Açorda de Bacalhau (congee-esque bread with salted cod), and the Chouriço em Chamas (chorizo flame-grilled in brandy). End the evening with the original Portuguese Egg Tart, served with a liberal sprinkling of cinnamon and icing sugar as they should be. Sounds like an amazing date night, no?

This part-art-gallery-part-cafe has made big waves in the cafe scene, and not just 'cos they serve great brunch and coffee. Artistry also provides creatives with a platform to debut their work through exhibitions, performances, talks or events that never fail to entertain. Fans of Artistry's food would be pleased to know they've extended their opening hours, making it possible to squeeze in that morning cuppa at 9am (an hour earlier than before), and also grab some sliders ($18) after work from their brand new dinner menu (till 9.30pm)! Choose from 8 different flavours like Angus Beef & Bacon, or Lamb Tzatziki, and wash them down with a couple of drinks after a long day. For dessert, don't miss their notorious PB&J French toast ($14)!

Open till late, this is just the spot for a little "after-party" -- with some truffle fries of course! Indulge in a decadent chocolate cake if you haven't had your fill of sweets for the week.

You no longer have to travel all the way to Thailand to get your dose of coconut ice cream served in a husk. The people over at newly opened Pong can help you with just that. Get their bestseller - coconut gelato and sorbet in a flesh-filled coconut husk and served with a cup of coconut juice. Their coconut gelato is dairy-free and their sorbets made from fresh fruits complement the gelato well. A perfect pick-me-up on a warm day!

You can't possibly have too much ice cream in the tropics. Recently opened DanmiSoft brings you milky smooth, organic soft serve ice cream from Korea, with a range of toppings and flavours that include manuka honey, affogato, caramel popcorn and the ever popular honeycomb ($3.90-$5.90). Want to bump up the healthy factor? Ask for an additional topping of Himalayan pink salt, available for all flavours!

The froyo craze is making its way back, with newly opened Frozen opening its doors in Toa Payoh, offering a healthier alternative to the usual ice creams and gelatos to quell the heat. Hailing from Melbourne, this yoghurt bar uses biodynamic milk and yoghurt, serving up cool frozen yoghurt flavours including pomegranate, green tea, mango & soy, and coconut. Toppings range from healthy chia seeds, banana bread, goji berries, pomegranate bits, roasted coconut, and loads more!

Have YOU braved the Honey Creme queue? Known for their milky and smooth soft serve ice cream with novel toppings, this Taiwanese brand's soft serve with honeycomb is a popular choice, as is the cotton candy and caramel popcorn. Coffee-lovers can opt for the organic cotton candy affogato and watch a magical display of hot-espresso-on-cotton-candy action unfold. It might be wise to wait till the queues shorten a little, unless you have some time to spare!

Flavour Flings is a brand new heartland cafe located in Hougang, bringing hearty brunch servings to residents and everyone else in the area. Recycled-wood furnishings give this place a very laid-back vibe, perfect for casual brunch affairs. Menu items include eggs done in a variety of ways - poached/ baked/ fried, pastas as well as pancakes. Tastemaker Raine Liu recommends Marie's Baked Eggs; 'tomato based eggs with mushrooms and spinach and cheese which went well with the toasted sour dough bread.'

North Bridge Road is now greeted by the presence of multiple new ice cream parlours, one being the very new Twenty Grammes. Besides homemade ice cream, waffles and coffee, they also offer a selection of tarts and cakes to satisfy your dessert cravings. Try their banoffee pie and hazelnut dacquiose recommended by Tastemaker Jennifer Yeo, and their yummy honey scotch ice cream. We ought to count our lucky stars that in hot, humid Singapore, we sure don't have a lack of cool-me-down ice cream parlours!
