Hawker Guide || West🚩
Lotong is a traditional dish that passed down from many decades ago. Ingredients are mainly made of compressed rice cake with other ingredients like cabbage, beancurd, potato etc.
It is commonly found in Singapore, Malaysia & Indonesia. It's at a rare sight that you can easily find a good bowl of lotong in Singapore. I believe the pioneer hawkers still serve the best with the traditional recipe.
It's been a long while, finally craving satisfied over last weekend! Traditional food always taste the best! 😭😭😭
Nasi Padang is known as one of the traditional dish in Indonesia originated at West Sumatra. Served in many different choices of dishes in tradition but in hawker terms, they provide what's best for you. It may seems unclear to you but it was served with sambal chicken, eggplant, mini beancurd and the belachan chilli which is a must!
The fragrant of this dish is definitely irresistible. Having to say that Char Kway Teow is one of our famous traditional dish in Singapore. As this dish has been increasingly popular over the years, many cooks have come up with many interpretations of the same basic ingredients of rice cake stripes/flat noodles stir-fried with almost anything with eggs. Various ingredients to go along like chinese sausage, prawns, cockles, chicken. As compared to all notable versions, Penang Char Kway Teow is still the most famous among others. Leading from the popularity in Singapore & Malaysia and favorited by many locals till today.
Here's one at 448 Clementi Hawker Centre, Snow Mount Char Kway Teow has been pretty remarkable by many west-siders.

I had a good catch of two rolls of CCF(s) with just a dollar. Tasted really fresh and springy! This probably will be a better choice for your morning fix!
I'm really thankful for the existence of this traditional dish although it's not originated in Singapore. But I'm sure it's one of our local's favorite ☺️

This one of the rare gem and yet sinful dish. I like it traditionally in a way that you can only find it in Kuala Lumpur and no elsewhere! It's relatively oily as you can see from the photo but this is definitely one of the must-try dishes when you're here! Never a disappointing moment whenever I visit and I'm sure I will be back for you again! Overall Ratings: 👍👍👍👍//👍👍👍👍👍
The national dish from Malaysia, Penang. It's one of the rare dishes you can find in Singapore, probably it's one of the best you can have in Singapore. This is one tasty bowl of Assam Laksa you can find @ Malaysia Boleh. Indeed it was a breathe-taking experience to taste such an authentic dish in Singapore! Overall Ratings: 👍👍👍👍👌//👍👍👍👍👍
The smoking hot claypot chicken rice will definitely change your mind of having any other claypot rice once before. It's definitely a unique flavor you can't find elsewhere, and never was i a fan of Chao Ta(overcooked) claypot rice. But no, the sauce they drizzle on, was to balance out the base and preventing the rice getting overcooked! I'm sure my photo looks deceiving. So no harm trying 👍
Stumbled upon this "no signboard stall" but selling different variety of food for breakfast & lunch. A total different menu for both meals. This is not too bad for a start, but surely he knows who are his competitors. But I like your originality that keeps what's original and not. A simple lunch after all? So what are your favorite carrot cake in Singapore?
