The branch at count is indeed spacious with a nice breeze coming through the patio. With a perfect shade from the adjacent building, it was not too suffocating to sit outdoors at this quaint cafe. The tandoori we had was really juicy and tender, while the pasta we had erred on the side of too creamy (I think it was a spicy pasta, Asian flavour, can't remember the exact name)
The spruce burger really satisfied my burger craving. The bun was buttery but soft, meat was done JUST AS I ASKED - medium βΊοΈ fries are on the soft side as most thick fries are. Another dish worth a mention - the caesar salad here is great!
I was excited to visit w39 because I saw the iconic blue and yellow chairs in pictures online. Needless to say, the cafe was such a cute place - there were those colorful chairs, hipster decorations all around, bright simple patterns on the counter. What a gem! We had the cake set which was underwhelming (both the coffee and cake) but the Duck Confit is worth a mention, as it was tender, well marinated and almost addicting. Will be back to try the other mains, perhaps catch their weekday lunch set to be cost-conservative. π
This was my second visit to Spathe Public House and it has not disappointed. The chicken and waffles are on point π―, so was the beef sandwich. I ordered the tipsy beer chicken (singapore sling flavour - tiger beer, $55 for whole chicken) on my second visit, and trust me, it's worth every bit of the 30 min wait. The chicken is not too oily or fat and is super tasty and tender! Will be back again for this dish!
The back room coffee here was pricey (~S$9) but worth a try for its special flavours. It was really interesting to watch the coffee being made - drip coffee - kind of like how Vietnamese coffee is made. This particular coffee (St. Isabel, Guatemala) had quite a strong blackcurrant flavour, a "dessert-coffee", if that could be made a term.
