Saint Pierre is one of the top French restaurants in Singapore for all the right reasons. There is a strong emphasis on organic, wholesome produce coupled with top-notch service and a calming waterfront view (it’s vegetarian friendly too). Go for the Discovery menu at $148 per head, and tuck into a nine-course extravaganza featuring delectable dishes like seared scallops with black truffle essence and cauliflower mousse, herb crusted langoustine, and charred joshgyu beef sirloin. Interested in a completely different dining experience? Mark April Fool’s and Halloween on your calendars and try to snag one of the limited seats to sample chef Emmanuel Stroobant’s creative dinner menus for said occasions – think edible eye balls and a dessert called “You see, the brain itself feels no pain, if that concerns you”…

Was disappointed with this because it wasn't even served warm. Would have been so much better if it was made fresh upon order

Ridiculously photogenic and reminiscent of brunches in Sydney, Paddy Hills is a rustic the even though located in the far West. The hotcake is done very well and berries were really fresh and juicy. Please order this and others for sharing as portions are huge.

Sprucing up the dining scene in the Buona Vista area is Paddy Hills, a beautiful space that should be high up on your list of places to visit. The menu is diverse and refreshing, with a fusion of several cuisines. A feast for the eyes, the Berry Ricotta Hotcake ($19) is served with mascarpone, blueberry sugar and fresh berries, inspired by Melbourne's Top Paddock. A crisp exterior gives in to a fluffy interior tinged with maple syrup — a must-order dish that tastes a lot more cake-like than the usual hotcakes. The Japanese-inspired Squid Ink Tagliatalle ($23) features tobiko, ikura, mentaiko, puffed rice, and seared scallops. Also order the Cauliflower Fritters ($12) served with masala yogurt, and the Toasted Spicy Rice Cakes ($15) with gochujang mayo to snack on. Besides the usual coffee and tea, they have cocktails, ciders and wines as well.

Crisp-coated and creamy-centred, the three large pieces of goat cheese are a gorgeous match with the mixed salad of baby spinach, warm bacon pieces, vine tomatoes and toasted pine nuts, all tossed together in a honey mustard dressing. Only Wild Honey's own signature toasted brioche batons qualify to accompany such a lovely concoction. Ordinary breads need not apply.

I always end up ordering the poached eggs with smoked salmon ($16) here. Their rendition of Caesar's salad ($14) comes with arugula instead of butterhead lettuce and is studded with tomato chunks, bacon bits, buttery croutons and a poached egg. The creamy and well-seasoned dressing is served on the side, so you can add as much/little as you like. Will probably skip the linguine Bolognese ($15) and lemon tart ($5.50) next time; the pasta was rather bland and the lemon tart's pastry was overworked while the filling was overcooked (such a shame cos the tanginess was on the money).

Symmetry along Jalan Kubor is possibly one of our little island's hippest hidden gems. With its distressed bricked walls and rustic-like vibe, the space spells indie and contemporary, and is just different from the rest without trying too hard. Symmetry holds its own with character and attitude, and stands by its mantra of being a 'humane' restaurant by serving up organic eggs and grass-fed beef. Favourites include the Flan which features chunks of tender pork cheek confit, and their luscious Eggs Ben. *Brunch available on weekends only!

Tucked away at the beginning of Duxton road, Department of Caffeine is an edgy coffee joint with an industrial-chic groove and a cosy homely vibe. Those with a sweet tooth will love the Buttermilk Waffles with Butter Rum Bananas and French Toasts Maple Syrup Bananas. Caffeine-addicts can enjoy a full-bodied perk-me-up with specialty coffee beans from Australian roaster Five Senses, while tea enthusiasts have a good range of choices from homegrown tea specialist Tea Bone Zen Mind. *Brunch available on weekends only!

A little French Bakery/Cafe/Restaurant located along Bukit Timah Road, right next to Coronation Plaza, Choupinette has always been in the spotlight for their highly raved-about Eggs Ben and authentic French pastries. The menu is concise, and each set comes with a juice and hot drink. Just a disclaimer though, the beautifully poached eggs covered with rich and buttery Hollandaise sitting atop the crisp baguette does not come cheap here.
