Panna Cotta of the Day. This Chendol Panna Cotta comes with Gula Melaka and jelly atop an egg pudding, which replicates Chendol perfectly in taste.
Step into Sawadee Thai Cuisine and you will see how much emphasis they place on aesthetics. For starters, get the Betel Leaf Wrap, a Thai street food. Wrap the condiments in a betel leaf, put it your mouth, and wait for the party to begin; the flavours and textures are pretty damn amazing. The Thai Style Otah, served on a traditional clay plate, can't be more pleasing to the eyes and palate. Served with a generous amount of chicken strips, fried dried shrimp, bits of lime, chilli and onions, the Olive Rice is one of the best you can find. If you like durians, be sure to end your meal with the Durian Glutinous Rice!
It's one of the days that you needed something to indulge on. This LSB never fails to amaze me each time I visit Victor's Kitchen. At it's hidden corner of Sunshine Plaza. Do spot their little yellow signboard 😄
Cooked only upon order, this plate of wet-style "fried bee hoon" is redolent with "wok hei" and tonnes of garlic chunks. There's "chye sim", fishcake, sliced fish and a couple of prawns tossed in. I love eggs, so inevitably, I always add one on.
You can find this dish at standalone food stall that takes up the whole unit of #02-55 inside Golden Landmark Shopping Centre. Besides churning out "zi char", they also have "chap chye png" (choice of ready-cooked dishes and rice). Don't worry if you can't find a seat, the uncle will open up fold-away tables for customers. That's the beauty of these old school food places - flexibility is their "modus operandi".
Served slightly warm, their "gula melaka" cake which is actually an inspired take on the traditional "basbousa" (a Middle Eastern-style semolina cake), has grated coconut and dried longans within, and comes covered in almond flakes. Moist with a complex and caramelly sweetness, the best way to enjoy it is with a cup of coffee.
Huge fan of the baklavas from Overdoughs, the tiny pastry shop beside Artichoke. If you're here for brunch, finish off with this sweet, sinful, bomb of a dessert. $10 for 4 pieces.
